lfc003 Posted October 26, 2014 Posted October 26, 2014 Raheem and Stevie need to be sat in the stands for this one -------------- Mignolet -------------Manquillo Skrtel Lovren Moreno----------- Lucas Leiva ----------------- Hendo ------- Allen --------------- Phil Coutinho -------------- Lambert ---- Mario ------- subs: Jones, Kolo, Jose, Can, Borini, Markovic, Rossiter After yesterday's clean sheet we may as well keep the same back 5

MignoletJohnson - Skrtel - Lovren - Moreno----------------- Can -------------------------- Henderson ------- Coutinho----------------- Sterling ---------------------------Lambert --- Balotelli -------- Put Sterling on the bench and bring in Lallana and that would be the team for me.
Sion Posted October 26, 2014 Posted October 26, 2014 Markovic starts surely. We paid £20m for him and it already looks like the manager doesn't rate him. He must look s*** in training because he hasn't had a fair run in the team compared to the backing Balotelli has had.

Sterling could do with a rest
Florist Cinema Pond Goal Posted October 26, 2014 Posted October 26, 2014 Markovic starts surely. We paid £20m for him and it already looks like the manager doesn't rate him. He must look s*** in training because he hasn't had a fair run in the team compared to the backing Balotelli has had. Don't think it's unreasonable to give him time to settle in before giving him more starts, don't see this as an Alberto situation. Rodgers said this a couple of weeks ago: “With young Markovic it’s taking time with him,” Rodgers said. “He’s in a new country and he’s getting used to a new way of life and he’s just getting accustomed to the physicality of this league having come from Portugal where it’s totally different.”
Rory Fitzgerald Posted October 26, 2014 Posted October 26, 2014 Mignolet Manquillo Skrtel Lovren Moreno Can Henderson ....... Allen Lallana Balotelli Borini I dont like the idea of Balotelli & Lambert as a partnership particularly with both seemingly low on confidence. I think Borini offers something different. Put energy & movement beside Balotelli rather than a less dynamic player. Keep Lambert for last 20 rather first 70. Swansea have alot of pace on the break with 2 from Dyer, Routledge and Montero likely to be picked in the wide areas. Dyer & Routledge are their 2nd and 3rd top scorers and were outside picks for the recent England squads. Henderson and Allen's energy might help mitigate their threat on the counter and the young full backs are no slouches either. Give Gerrard a rest with Can needing minutes. His physical presence could be useful ahead of the defence to help with either Gomis or Bony depending who plays. If we do play 2 upfront then I probably wouldnt pick Markovic in the team. The attack isnt functioning too well so if we do play 2 there then I would be reluctant to put Markovic in as well as we are still not sure what we are getting with him.
Gunga Din Posted October 26, 2014 Posted October 26, 2014 Swansea played the first team against Everton in the last round. Realistically, this is our best chance of a trophy this season. Id play a pretty strong 11 here, probably similar to teh side Rory posted, and have Rossiter and Wilson on the bench
Conrad Posted October 26, 2014 Posted October 26, 2014 Definitely pick a strong side but rest Gerrard and Sterling. Wouldn't have Markovic anywhere near the team MignoletManquillo-Skertl-Lovren-MorenoAllen-Can-HendersonLallana-Balotelli-Coutinho
Cam Posted October 26, 2014 Posted October 26, 2014 The team needs to be stronger than I would normally like as we need the boost from a win. MignoletManquillo Skrtel Lovren MorenoRossiterHenderson AllenCoutinhoLambert Balotelli
RedMersey Posted October 26, 2014 Posted October 26, 2014 If the manager doesn't start this with two strikers, I'm going to have to seriously reconsider my knowledge of the game. MignoletManquillo, Skrtel, Lovren, MorenoGerrardHenderson, CoutinhoLallanaLambert, Borini
Nerik Posted October 26, 2014 Posted October 26, 2014 MignoletJohnson Skrtel Toure Enrique Henderson Can Allen Markovic Coutinho Lambert Subs: Jones, Lovren, Moreno, Rossiter, Borini, Balotelli, Lallana
Rory Fitzgerald Posted October 26, 2014 Posted October 26, 2014 If the manager doesn't start this with two strikers, I'm going to have to seriously reconsider my knowledge of the game. I think he does need to go with 2 because we are not creating much with 1 upfront and each of Balotelli, Lambert and Borini havent shown anything to give any confidence. However, I can understand if he wants to go with 1 upfront and flood behind that with players that have produced i.e. Sterling, Lallana, Coutinho. What I'd prefer not to see is too much rotation in the sense that we are 1 home game away from the quarter finals. I want to win this game and see what the draw gives us - there is City/Spurs/Chelsea that are the worst possible draws. But yeah, I'd prefer to see 2 strikers but with Balotelli partnered with Borini rather than Lambert. Balotelli only had 45 against Madrid so we're not burning him out. Give Borini his chance to kick himself up ladder and with that it might create space to give Balotelli a goal.
Falconhoof Posted October 26, 2014 Posted October 26, 2014 Win this, win at Newcastle, keep things steady, go on a run.

The_Adder Posted October 27, 2014 Posted October 27, 2014 You think Markovic would be starting this one like.
Conrad Posted October 27, 2014 Posted October 27, 2014 You think Markovic would be starting this one like. why? He has been dire so far and this competition represents a chance of a trophy, so pick best team minus Gerrard and poss Sterling
