Go to thinking, would it be that mental if we won the European Cup this year? It looks a million miles off but then didn't we win it with far inferior 'pub side' to our current side according to the know it alls, so who knows...

 

Then I got to picking a team from both and was surprised how close it is, however I definitely came up with a team that would go close:

I saw him make his debut v villa. we lost and whilst it wasn't down to him I wasn't over impressed. I saw his balls up with Forlan too, and from that moment on he was in my bad books forever. I sort of forgave him a bit later on like .....

To be left out of that team is ridiculous, all to accommodate a Glen Johnson who has been very poor and only had spurts of good form every now and again, and not for the past couple of years. On top of which, most of our best defences were with Riise in it.

Riise was sh*t after a decent start but that's ok because Johnson has been in poor form of late, you're all over the place man, Glen Johnson is far better footballer than old ginger, different class and you have to compare them both at their peak in a red shirt not as Johnson has been lately and Riise was in the early days.

It's a tough shout, Kewell was a great player but not sure he'd form a strike force with Sturridge. It's early for Mario I suppose and every time I think of Kewell it's the one that limps.
