My mate is developing a new football game app - and it is ready for the test stage and I was wondering if anyone here would be interested in helping/taking part?

They're trialling it for the Spurs v Liverpool & England v Norway games.

If you're interested drop me a PM with your email address and I'll forward the contact details and they'll be in touch with what to do next.

Basically all you'll need to do is watch the game with your phone handy, play along and then give some feedback afterwards.

to put a bit more meat on the bones of this

The game is called 'Be The Ref'

Watch a live football match on TV and BTR will pose you a series of questions about the game you are watching. Penalties, goals, offsides, fouls, diving, red cards? All of these happen in football matches and now you will get a chance to make real time decisions based upon the action you are watching to give your opinion and try and top the league of game players.

You will score points if your answer matches that of our expert BTR referee. (The decision of the actual on field referee is irrelevant to the game). It is a very simple immediate multiple choice questions that will be sent via the App. We will collate the answers and you will be able to see how many of the players agree or disagree with you. You will be given ten seconds to answer the question. The quicker you make the right decision the more points you get. You will then be fed into a global ranking system and league with the winner getting a prize per match. You can check your league status at half time and full time. It is that simple.

Simply click on the link here http://bit.ly/1vpj6Rg on either your desktop/laptop or mobile device. Register your details including team, email and name (these details can be changed later from the setting page), then just tune into Spurs v Liverpool on Sunday 31 August at 1.30pm, have the App open, watch the Game and participate with our App notifications. We will also send you a series of post game questions on the App to get your feedback immediately,

There is also a 'WhatsApp' group to give realtime feedback during the match if you want to do that (need to PM me your mobile number and I'll pass it on so you can join that). Otherwise there's a feedback form postmatch

Interesting idea - not for me though i like to watch the game and not be too distracted. I only post on here before and after the game and maybe half time. not often will i post when the game is actually on.

Could see how people would like the real time part of it though

That is the major concern but we did a mini-trial of it during the World Cup and it happens pretty quick and only during natural breaks in the play anyway. You don't always get to see a replay of an incident before you have to make your decision.

But it'll be interesting to see what a larger test group makes of it.

Surprised/disappointed at the lack of interest here - given how happy people are to talk guff throughout the match in the match thread ;)

I think that was the main issue for me on sunday, I don't think I would play it if it was liverpool playing, and I wouldn't be that interested in a non liverpool game to sit there and watch it for 90 minutes, thinking about the ref's decisions

would have been an interesting game to play during the world cup

you don't have to 'sit there for 90 minutes thinking about ref's decisions'

you get 10 seconds to make a judgement call - as you would naturally do watching the game anyway (the judgement call not the 10 secs) - only here you just have to tap your phone to select your call

I can see why you wouldn't want to play it during a Liverpool game but there are loads of other matches that we all watch where it would be a fun play along game
