RP Posted August 10, 2014 Posted August 10, 2014 It's back! The Champions Elect go again. And just to pass the time, let's challenge the "brutal fact" that we'll only name one new signing in our starting line-up, no matter what. I'll go for 3, with another 2 on the bench. And for the tie-breaker they will be Lovren, Can and Manquillo with Lambert and either Markovic or Moreno* on the bench. *I have a crystal ball.
RedMersey Posted August 10, 2014 Posted August 10, 2014 (edited) Think we'll line up exactly like we did today. Gives us the opportunity to play 4-2-3-1, 4-3-3 or maybe even 4-1-2-1-2 at least with taking off one of Can or Henderson. That XI is flexible, dynamic and the players will have a good feeling after about 60 good minutes together today. We're ready. Edited August 10, 2014 by RedMersey
DJS Posted August 10, 2014 Posted August 10, 2014 I know preseason doesn't mean much but I was pleased to see Sturridge score today, feels like he's now ready and prior to today, his preseason sharpness just hadn't been there.

Stanley Leisure Posted August 10, 2014 Posted August 10, 2014 Cannot wait. What are you doing for it?
Maldini Posted August 10, 2014 Posted August 10, 2014 I'm going to be in Ataturk airport for this. Efes.
Kvarme Ate My Food Posted August 10, 2014 Posted August 10, 2014 What are you doing for it? I'm at a wedding in Derbyshire on the Saturday so may have to watch it up there.
Stanley Leisure Posted August 10, 2014 Posted August 10, 2014 I'm at a wedding in Derbyshire on the Saturday so may have to watch it up there. Fine, I'll f*cking watch it on my own.
Sir Tokyo Sexwale Posted August 10, 2014 Posted August 10, 2014 I'm at a wedding in Maine on Sat and will be on the drive back so will miss it Surely today's starting line up is as close as you'd expect it to be? With a bench of Jones, Sakho, Flanno, Lucas, Allen, Ibe, Lambert - assuming Lazar & Lallana are out (the latter surely is?) and no signings btw now & then. So that matchday XVIII (heh) still leaves Kolo, Coates, Enrique (and Borini) as well as the two injuries above not in the matchday team. Choices!
Cheesecake Posted August 11, 2014 Posted August 11, 2014 Yeah I think the team vs Southampton will be as per today barring any injuries in the week.
Sir Tokyo Sexwale Posted August 11, 2014 Posted August 11, 2014 ...and even Suso - if he has a future
RedMersey Posted August 11, 2014 Posted August 11, 2014 I would expect Moreno to make the bench (if we sign him). Wouldn't be surprised if Flanno was still out. Suso has been given some playing time in pre season (shop window theory?), and I would think he could offer more than one of Lucas or Allen depending on how the game pans out.
The_Adder Posted August 11, 2014 Posted August 11, 2014 I wouldnt put Falcao straight in, probably keep him on the bench and let him soak it up all, will probably come as a bit of a shock to him playing in front of that many fans, might need time to bed in. I'll be in a field near Crewe at a festival like I was for the Stoke game last season desperately trying to update Twitter when I seen that Stoke had got a last minute penalty, took over 15 minutes to update, but the joy, the unadulterated job, felt when I finally found out that our Belgium keeper had saved it was worth the agonising wait. I'd take the same again to be honest.
cymrococh Posted August 11, 2014 Posted August 11, 2014 the unadulterated jobThere's a lot of those at festivals. Take some hand sanitiser.
Sion Posted August 11, 2014 Posted August 11, 2014 These are really poor at the moment. They need signings all over the shop. Yoshida will be playing at CB, who is f***ing w***.Sterling should give Bertrand nightmares. Only danger is one of their new players doing a Ravenelli.
fred milne Posted August 11, 2014 Posted August 11, 2014 Liverpool buy their best players but plucky Southampton come away with the 3 points. Liverpool lack bite without Suarez as they slump to opening day defeat.
realtarragona Posted August 11, 2014 Posted August 11, 2014 Liverpool new boys show Southampton what they're missing with convincing 4-0 win.

RBM Posted August 11, 2014 Posted August 11, 2014 Kop Shocker: Anfield shamed by Colin Pascoe's half-time dog-bumming. It'll be dry humping, there's no way he takes his shorts off, EVER!
