thought it might be an idea to have a separate thread for footie betting as there are a few of us who like to throw money away/buy money depending on who you ask.

So its first day of the season more most teams in England and Scotland, so im sure a few will have a punt.

As its first day, and impossible to call anything, ive just taken a wild stab at a treble of Wigan, Fleetwood and Leyton Orient, all to win BTTS. its paying 60/1

Took up the Paddy Power offer of betting 20 on a topscorer and getting a free 2 quid bet each time he scores.

Went 20 on RvP and 10 each way on Rooney. Picked the Utd 2 purely as they have no Europe. Wasnt sure how the likes of Aguero, Sturridge, Diego Costa would be rotated and used given that they will be in the Champions League.

Here is a snap shot of the market for easy reference

It's a good offer that PP top scorer. What was the small print someone picked up on? You have to bet every month or something?

Not great prices in fairness...will back Sturridge

I'll have some of that treble then. Might add a couple of teams for fourfolds and an accy.

Bought at 2.95 goals in the Forest v Blackpool game.

I've got Orient in an acca. They faded badly last year, carrying on where they left off so far!

I have Orient in one. Got Dons in the other and they've managed to come back from 2 down.

I had a four fold on aways and it came in but I lost my nerve and cashed it out at £30 instead of waiting for the full £50. f***** came in

Be interesting to see the Cash Out facts and figures.

There was the guy during the World Cup who could have taken about five grand but went for the last game in the accumulator and didn't win anything.

It must be a huge winner for them. Psychology of seeing a profit and taking it rather than running it - people always take profits too soon and, conversely, run losses too long.

I'd never normally even think of betting on a friendly - but Dortmund only arriving this morning suggested they weren't taking today particularly seriously, whereas with it being our last friendly, we would be quite up for it.

I got us at 6/5 and I am a bit disappointed I didn't do a bit more than the tenner I put on it.

I got 11/8 on Bet365. I couldn't bring myself to do more than a tenner either - because it was just a friendly.

Just a spread betting question.

At 2:0 yesterday there was a winning margin bet that siad something like 2.2 (red) to 2.5 (blue). I couldn't work out what to bet on, because it then said something about the price being for both teams. Should I have bought at 2.2 or sold at 2.5 if I thought we were going to increase our lead?

I ended up throwing £25 quid on next to score on Bet 365 instead. Twice at around 6/5.

Firstly, you couldn't buy at 2.2 or sell at 2.5 - you could sell at 2.2 or you could buy at 2.5 but not the other way round.

That spread was a quote Liverpool over Dortmund (and would have been quoted 'LIV/DOR', as opposed to 'DOR/LIV')

If you thought we would win by less than 2.2 goals (i.e. win by 2 goals, win by 1 goal, draw or lose), you'd sell at 2.2.

If you thought we'd win by over 2.5 (i.e. 3 goals or more) then you would buy at 2.5. If you'd done that, and run it to the end, the bet would have settled at 4 ... so you'd have made 1.5 times your stake (4 - 2.5), e.g. £10 a goal would have won you £15.

It always un-nerves me seeing people ask spread betting questions...my mate got hammered by not understanding how it worked back in the day.

I understood it, but still lost loads early just due to it being so addictive
