mick Posted July 22, 2014 Posted July 22, 2014 Anybody any experience of getting (approximately 10) tickets for an Ajax game? I was told it can be abit of hassle as you need to be a member etc. Looked at club website and there is a firm that requires passport derails etc.
The Invisible Man Posted July 22, 2014 Posted July 22, 2014 Difficult for Ajax and in Holland generally. You need a members card to purchase and foreigners can often only buy by contating the clb and in Ajax's case by their pack where you get a card for food inside and a scarf.I would email them and see what they say. May be different for 10 people.

Any idea if it is similar in Belgium?

Pretty sure it is related to hooliganism, if I am not mistaken I think there is a law where the local mayor can either cancel a match or ban away support at short notice if there is a risk of trouble. I did the Ajax tour years ago and there was a special train station at the ground just for away fans if my memory is any good.

RP Posted July 23, 2014 Posted July 23, 2014 And bullet proof 'glass' separating the away fans from the rest of the stadium once inside.

Don't remember too much apart from 3 of the featured players on the big screen in the Museum were Van Basten, Littmanen and Bergkamp - nice collection pre tube days - Jari was very highly thought of there. I nearly fell down those very steep steps though and was so glad they brought the beer to you as I was too caned to walk

I also remember people chucking paper aeroplanes onto the pitch from way far up. I had just sold my first house and was moving in with my girlfriend ( missus now ) so took myself to Amsterdam with a few grand and lived it up a bit!

A quick look at wiki tells us we played there 2001 and 2003. It was defo dry in 03. I was with Gunga Din and we were both complaining to some fella behind the bar.
jimbolala Posted August 7, 2014 Posted August 7, 2014 It must have been 2001 and a Dutch friend got us the tickets . Them the hooligan thing kicked off and it all went a bit crazy. I think you can still drink there but only in the home end.
