Cahill's goal v Holland is right up there, alongside some of the Dutch thunderbolts from the 70's and 80's that were good.

Best for me was probably the Socrates pile driver v USSR in 82

maradona v england 86

Bergkamp against Argentina in '98.

I broke a few objects when that one went in

Does anyone else remember argentina had been denied s penalty a few seconds earlier?

yes I do, Van de Saar wasn't it

and Bergkamps goal is overrated

Owiran's goal

Owiran's effort is always played down a bit, because it was scored by a saudi player rather than a Brazilian or an Argentinean

I like this goal from Mexico 86

In my opinion it is.

Cahill's is a screamer, one of those where the commentators roar ROONEY (when it's about 25yds over the bar). It's a great goal, don't get me wrong. It's also what you expect from great goals.

Van Persie's sets itself aside through pure ingenuity, it's played in for a volley or half volley, he's not going to make it so executes one of the most perfect headers you'll see - and from 15yds.

I liken them to Suarez - look at the Norwich game (H). The first is a la Cahill - a screamer, one of the goals of the season....decade. But then there was also the hattrick goal (the flick over the defender one) that rather than having you roaring with adrenaline, just leaves you laughing at the sheer audacity, brilliance, inventiveness....Sometimes those goals to me are the better ones. And like the Suarez vs Norwich game, it's hard to say which of his goals was the best
