Having stumbled across the World Cup Fantasy Footy this week, I have to say it has been great fun setting up the leagues and auctions.

Would people be interested in joining a league for the next Premiership season?

And if there was a cost attached, of say a tenner??

If we made it £15, that would mean we could have a cash prize at the end of the season.

Just gauging interest at this stage. Let me know thoughts. Ta.

And another question ... this has been a bit of a rush for the World Cup but I think the urgency has added to the fun.

With a Premiership version, we could have a much longer lead time ... but I'd suggest we still had a short sharp auction process.

Thoughts?

I would be worried that people may lose interest very quickly if they end up with a really crap team but yes I would be in. Not sure about £15 like, but it's a starting point.

I think the website charges a tenner a team (I may be wrong) so I just thought adding a fiver would allow us to have a prize fund.

The WC version just looks to be a hook to get new customers for the Premiership version.

yeah count me in, there will probably need to be a good number of divisions if its restricted to just 16 players again. Although I see that you can link leagues to form a bigger league. That would work ok if you had say 5 divisions with 16 players as the demand for the standout players would be the same in each division i.e. 16 players bidding for Suarez or whoever, it wouldn't work as well with our current spread of leagues where 5 players have had the pick of the top players between them while another league has had to share the same pool with more managers

Once League 2 gets sorted I will attempt to link it with Gungas original 5 man league and see how that works.

Absolutely, having the auction over 24-48 hours max has worked well, no time to overthink it, and keeps the interest up. Interest that will probably wane by next Tuesday :lol:/>

I'd be up for the Premier League one too.

think the auctions would need to run for 24 hours to go smoothly - one person in the league was on UK-7 hours and another was on UK+9 hours. You dont want to be chasing after 50+ people to get their bids in, simpler to just say deadline is 5pm tomorrow or whatever and if your bid is not in by then you need to wait until the next round of bidding.

My guess is that the auction will prove to be the highlight.

In a full Premiership season, transfers will be more relevant and may keep more people interested for longer.

I'd be interested - prefer the NFL-style drafting, played the Guardian's Play The Game a couple of years ago which was brilliant, unique teams, transfers being negotiated plus random players able to be picked up from the free transfer pool.

Only seemed to run for a year but it was by far the best fantasy football I've ever played.

Now that the initial excitement of the auction has died down, a few people have mentioned that they aren't desperately keen on the scoring system.

Can you let me know your thoughts - I made a similar comment to the fantasy league website designers/owners and they have asked if I'd collate some direct feedback on what you don't like about it/improvements that could be made.
