We all need to do some weird crazy praying / voodoo / sacrifice our pets etc, to somehow try to get Villa to win on Wed. Think the odds are accurate - Villa are about 10-1 to win... so you never know. But f*** - feel so, so much worse now than after the Chelsea match, and I wouldn't have thought that possible at the time. Sometimes I really do wish I didn't like football.
Sir Tokyo Sexwale Posted May 6, 2014 Author Posted May 6, 2014 yeah, right now I envy those who don't feel like me

Villa 20-1. 10-1 for the draw. Maybe Allardyce will be our saviour on Sunday (not that West Ham's odds will be any shorter) but Allardyce masterminding a win vs. City, with Nolan, Carroll and Downing all contributing would be a fitting end to the season (assuming we then beat Newcastle). f***. f***. f***. Really is the hope that does it.

Sometimes I really do wish I didn't like football.I don't feel anywhere near as bad as I did after Chelsea and the Everton - City games. I think deep down after those games I knew we will need a huge miracle to actually win it. I'm quite ok with the situation, we still need the big miracle to happen in either of City's games and we beat Newcastle to win the title. And even if it doesn't happen tomorrow, we are still in with a chance during the game on Sunday. Anything can happen in an individual football match, red cards, freak incidents (like Gerrard's slip), own goals, super goalkeeping performances etc. 10/10 for the lads this season in any case. Amazing to still be in with a chance. Edited May 6, 2014 by Walrus
RBM Posted May 6, 2014 Posted May 6, 2014 Give them a big send off for the summer and carry them through the last game.
psl Posted May 6, 2014 Posted May 6, 2014 This game should be a big party. What the players and manager have done this season is amazing.

Barnesy_10 Posted May 6, 2014 Posted May 6, 2014 I mentioned it in the other thread... I guess there has to be a trophy at both Etihad and Anfield for the match as a precaution? Imagine being a player knowing you are so close to the thing.. All the podium and all that stuff.. f*** me I'm gutted

Beardsley Posted May 6, 2014 Posted May 6, 2014 Jupp, this should be a great party. Show the players and Brendan our support. This season has been nothing but sensational.
aka Dus Posted May 6, 2014 Posted May 6, 2014 Will there be another welcome to the stadium? Should be an even better one than v Chelsea.

Even though at the moment it feels like I've been gutted by an ice cream scoop, the team has been brilliant this season. They deserve the acclaim.

Amazing to still be in with a chance.Very much with you on that. Needed an unexpected result if we won last night, need an unexpected result - or combination of results - still. That's not 'throwing it away', we're still in the space where we could be champions next Sunday, as we were before. I can't get too uptight over perceived marginal calls on the relative unlikeliness of the circumstances falling our way. Of course I'm pissed about losing a 3 goal lead, but I would be even if that has been a mid-table nothing match. But it didn't make that much of a fundamental change in our chances imo. (Part of me thinks that luring City into a false sense of security, that they can draw one game, will work in our favour. I think that was in Brendan's thoughts last night when he bigged up their chances. Fwiw, I'd take all options, but my preferred mode of victory anyway now would be a win at Anfield then listening for the final whistle at the Etihad and a barely believable outcome. Not sure I could handle going into Sunday in pole position.) The reception outside the ground and at the match next week should be even bigger and louder than before. These are f***ing heroes for what they have done so far, and as of next Sunday afternoon kick-off, and for the subsequent 90 minutes right up until the final whistle, we now know that it will definitively and exhiliratingly, not be over. Lets have a party.
PhilM Posted May 6, 2014 Posted May 6, 2014 Exactly. Let's not let last night's debacle cloud things, the team have been superb this season and deserve all of our appreciation. They're probably feeling as down as we are about it, so let's gee them up and give them the motivation to smash the absolute piss out of Newcastle.
Swan Red Posted May 6, 2014 Posted May 6, 2014 We're going into the last game of the season with a chance of winning it, it's extremely unlikely that we will but I reckon that should have the fans up for it

Swan Red Posted May 6, 2014 Posted May 6, 2014 wonder how many are offering 1500 a ticket now. Team has earned a proper celebration at Anfield on Sunday then a proper f***ing transfer window.

Can't ask for much more really, can we? if a draw and one loss were in the middle of 11 wins then we would be going bouncing into this last game.
