There has been such a step up in how communications and PR are handled by the Club, I thought it even deserved a thread of its own - high praise that on here, when most threads start pre-season and go on past Easter.

There is undoubtedly an element of "well they just reflect the improved form of the team and mood within" but I can't help feeling that it's more than that.

The photos from training that get put on the club's FB page are great - seem to illustrate a fantastic team spirit, which is what every fan wants to believe/see.

Interviews are getting better - Steven Gerrard looks like he's having the time of his life. The obvious response is ... "he f*cking is", but again I think that someone has got a hold of them and is coaching them brilliantly. See also interviews with Sturridge, Suarez, Henderson etc.

Press conferences, and interviews with the boss, are becoming hugely entertaining - he is clearly riding the crest of this particular wave and good on him for it. Again, there will be a huge element of him just growing into the role, ut the transformation is pretty staggering.

Someone is clearly getting it spot on at the moment, in my opinion. Maybe it's all just quite new for us this time round but I don't hear other fans accusing us of the arrogance of Ferguson/United at their peak, nor the tactics of Mourinho/Chelsea or Wenger/Arsenal.

Long may it continue.

I believe the club has been bringing in Leadership and behavioural consultants to work with the commercial management team as well as having Steve Peters working with the players, and I think we are starting to see the benefits of that.

Brendan is big into this kind of stuff and it's interesting to see the difference between what he is saying in interviews and what the players say.Brendan is batting away all questions about the title and just banging on about the next game etc, whereas all the players are happy talking about the fact they want the title. Strikes me that he's got the players driving the goal which is a result of the work he's done in building self belief and the team ethic.

If Americans can do anything well, it's customer service and company image. Of course we're more than paying customers and the club isn't just a company, it's much more than that, but the rules generally remain the same - display positivity, have confidence in your approach and above all build relationships.

So explain Jen Chang to me then.

American firms tend to be great at the bullsh*t that gets lapped up by an American audience - not by a wary/cynical British Scouse one.

I coined a new phrase this weekend though :

Ian Ayrertia

That comes just behind Hill Street Bluesh*te

I haven't heard that - I expected someone to come back and say that this was also the work of Steve Peters  Maybe Steve can find the missing Malaysian Airlines plane - he seems to be capable of pretty much everything else.

I mentioned how impressed Si Clancy was with Susan Black when she was first appointed. It was a pretty good indicator as he deals with loads of PR people as dep. editor of sports at five live.

She has done a brilliant job and agree with RP that it deserves a thread of its own. When you consider how fractious our relationship was with the media under Rafa, rfh and Kenny (for sometimes very valid reasons from our end) it's pretty remarkable.

From the few meetings I have had with Susan present she has come across as top class. In fact the whole PR dept are very good when dealing with them.

Have seen a few journos mention that our head of press is really good.

it beats signing players or building stadiums

the feel good factor of the latest commercial deal has me thumping my chest with pride, and from my vantage point on the 3rd floor I can see the formerly beleaguered citizens of Anfield striding about their business with renewed vigour

they've never had it so good

all in all, you can stick it up your a***

Surely a good PR dept is better than a s*** one. A good PR dept instead of good infrastructure and/or signings is not important though.

I don't think Susan Black and her team have any influence on our transfers wink.gif

Maybe we should broaden her remit.

I agree

this building relationships business doesn't seem to be happening when we try to sign players
