fellafeen Posted February 17, 2014 Posted February 17, 2014 I don't think its unrealistic to assume that city will beat wigan and play in the semi on the weekend of the 12th/13th. Meaning we will have 2 gap weekends and 2 midweek fixtures to squeeze in. Does anybody know if there are any rules relating to how games are rescheduled. City and Sunderland coincidentally have to reschedule their postponed pl game and also their league cup final weekend pl game. God forbid either of them draw a 1/4 or semi fa cup game. The last thing we need is to be playing sunday/tuesday or thursday/saturday games on the final week
fellafeen Posted February 17, 2014 Author Posted February 17, 2014 Currently we are third on the list of postponements for sunderland and will be fourth on the list for city. You'd have to assume priority goes in order of postponement and then schedule per available date
Davvo Posted February 17, 2014 Posted February 17, 2014 Hopefully Sunderland lose their QF, and our game gets rescheduled for the Semi weekend, leaving just the City game to reschedule for midweek. If City get past Barca, then there wont be too many possible dates for that.

Can see City game being shoe horned into the last midweek of season as Sky wont want it clashing with Champions League (And City could still be in it) Sunderland game could also be revolved around TV as I think it now needs to be shown as it was initially scheduled as a tv game
The_Adder Posted February 17, 2014 Posted February 17, 2014 City will have to play 5 times a week until the end of the season

baz2107 Posted February 17, 2014 Posted February 17, 2014 (edited) I'm going to flying in for the City game from India. :(/>/> When can it be postponed to realistically? City won't have any weekends free, it will be a midweek unless they lose to Wigan. Champions League knockout games are on 18th February, 12th March, quarters are on 1st and 8th April, semis on 22nd and 29th April. Internationals on the 4th March, they play other Mancs on 26th March Obviously if they get knocked out Champions League those weeks will be free, however I don't think Sky will want the game to clash with another champions league match if at all possible. this leaves definite free midweeks of 25th Feb, 19th March (clashes with other Champions League games), 14th April, and 4th May. So it'll be one of those, they will also have to schedule in the Villa game which is going to be postponed on the 8th. Wouldn't expect a decision for a while as they will need to play Wigan before anything is said (which will also rule out the 25th Feb) Edited February 17, 2014 by baz2107

David Hodgson Posted February 18, 2014 Posted February 18, 2014 Surely both our games against Sunderland and City simply get moved to the midweek after they were originally scheduled ? There are no cup replay or CL dates set for then.

The midweek after Sunderland game is a champions league week, obviously this doesn't effect either side, but as game was originally a tv game, I think Sky will want to keep it that way and not clash with Champions League
Billy Dane Posted February 18, 2014 Posted February 18, 2014 Apparently Hull and Brighton can't replay their cup game midweek when CL games are on, as UEFA have a rule which says that no other games can be played on days when CL games are scheduled. This would reduce the options we have for our rescheduled games.

Knox_Harrington Posted February 18, 2014 Posted February 18, 2014 I think we'll want to play Sunderland when we are meant to play City. Sunderland will be alright with that as well. So if they go out and City go through it will be that weekend. I agree with everyone saying that TV will put loads of pressure on for City to be as close to the season's close as possible.
The Invisible Man Posted February 18, 2014 Posted February 18, 2014 Yes this is true, no games can take place when the CL is on. But they can earlier/later as has happened with Spain.

If a TV game (Sunderland) is postponed, do the TV always show the re-arranged game ?
Knox_Harrington Posted February 18, 2014 Posted February 18, 2014 If a TV game (Sunderland) is postponed, do the TV always show the re-arranged game ?I think they do everything in their power to do so because it was part of the package of A, B, C games etc.

dorgie Posted February 18, 2014 Posted February 18, 2014 (edited) Midweek of 19th March would work for Sunderland game. No clashes that week. Unless Sunderland draw their cup match, which would presumably mean that replay would be on midweek of 19th March. Edited February 18, 2014 by dorgie
