Flano has broken in to the team in quite stunning fashion these last few weeks. Sterling is going from strength to strength and is starting to look a mouth watering prospect. One of the upsides to being hopeless in the transfer market is the youngsters are getting blooded.

Jones and Ibe seem to be regularly on our bench. I've just read that Teixeira is breaking through to the squad. We've also got Suso hitting form in Spain.

Interested to hear what those of you who watch these lads think, where they might fit in to the first team etc. Really looks like that academy policy is coming good.

Teixeira has always looked head and shoulders above teammates when he is on it. He definitely has the talent to push on and make it into the first team.

Looking at his Wikki it mentions he's a bit like Deco. Would he be back up for Coutinho or does he play somewhere a bit different?

We seem to produce them in all the same positions - Coutinho, Susu, Albert and Teixera all in roughly the same position. Loads of full backs too - Wisdom, Kelly, Flanno, Robinson, etc, etc.

A really ace centre mid would be nice.

I think long term he's probably a bit more Aquilani than Suso/Coutinho

There was a lot of talk about him lacking the attitude. You never know if that sort of thing is true though, and Rodgers words recently seem to suggest he has been training really well.

Teixera is 21. He's the same age as Coutinho . I think it's highly unlikely he breaks through with us.

I had thought that might be the case ... but Rodgers' comments today (yesterday?) are quite encouraging.

What did he say about him ?

Just found the quotes. Well that sheds a whole new light on things. I take it all back. ;)

Pelosi was just starting to train with the first team when he was injured towards the end of last season. Still not back playing yet but given our lack of options in midfield he could have a chance if he gets back to his previous form. Solid CM who can play on the left. People have compared him to Gareth Barry.

Jack Dunn is training with the first team at the moment as well which is a bit surprising as he looked to be out of favour 6 months back. Very talented player but they don't seem to know what his position is. He was a CM up until his second year with the 18s and since then he has played in all the positions behind the front men, up front and even left back at times when we were stuck. He's probably one who would benefit from going on loan next year.

I think McLaughlin could break into the first team squad next season. We already have 90 right backs but he's very talented. Might end up breaking through in midfield before he breaks through in his own position.

Sinclair might solve our 3rd striker problem, he's a ridiculously good finisher but his game hasn't really come on that much since he made his debut for us. Needs to become better outside the box if he is to make it with us. He should be watching videos of Sturridge 24/7 as he's eerily similar to a young Studge.

From The Echo, I think:

Brendan Rodgers has revealed how the form of youngster Joao Carlos Teixeira has put him in contention for Liverpool’s first team squad .

The Portugal Under-21s midfielder has been promoted from the Academy to train at Melwood in recent weeks.

Rodgers has been impressed by Teixeira, who has yet to make a senior appearance since his £800,000 move from Sporting Lisbon two years ago.

Teixeira was included in the travelling party for the recent FA Cup tie against Bournemouth.

The Reds boss believes the youngster, who had a brief loan spell at Brentford earlier in the season, is starting to fulfil his potential.

“I have contact with Alex Inglethorpe on a daily basis and Joao has been one of the outstanding performers for the reserves,” Rodgers told the ECHO.

“It's been difficult for him at times. When he has stepped up to the first team before it has been difficult for him.

“But I’ve seen a big difference in him. He is a talent.

“I always observe in training and see where players are at and Joao has looked very good. His intensity, the speed of his game – he has undoubted quality and he has showed up very well. We have brought in a number of young players to be around the squad.

“Brad Smith has been training here along with Jack Dunn, Joao and Stephen Sama. They have all looked very good and that’s the idea – to bring young players through.”

Younger players who i think are worth keeping an eye on .......

McLaughlin.........an extremely quick attack minded right back currently on loan at Barnsley , very much in the Glenn Johnson mould .

Ilori.........everyone should be aware of him already , very talented centre back (i believe he started out as a forward) , quick , runs with the ball really well , reads the game really well , I would compare him to Rio Ferdinand .

Rossiter.........very young but he has plenty about him , hopefully he continue his progression as he gets older , if he does , he should be a very good midfielder .

Teixeira........attacking central midfielder , lots of ability going forward , he still needs to work hard on the graft side of his game .

Wilson.........like Rossiter , very young , but recently he has been on absolute fire , wonderfully talented .

Ibe...............we have all seen him in the first team squad already , he like Sterling , could be a incredibly good player for us over the ext number of years .

Sinclair........in the same brackett as Rossiter and Wilson , very young but very very talented .

There are a number of others like Sama(cb) , Smith (lb) , Maguire (lb) , Trickett-Smith(am) , Dunn(mid/am) , Kent(am/f) who I don't think are too far behind the others I have mentioned above there .

Pelosi was meant to be the best of the midfielders wasn't he? Before the leg break. Seiji Ojo, supposed to be good, don't know that much about him, seen him on lfc.tv a few times.

Ojo is hugely talented and when he's on it is usually the best player on the park. When he's not you wouldn't know he's playing though. If he can become more consistent he could be exceptional but he still seems very up and down. Maybe something will click with him though and he'll kick on.

Pelosi is a good player yeah. Really consistent, a real 7 out of 10 at everything kind of player. He's been really unlucky as the last two seasons he's had season-ending-injuries around this time of the year.

Anyone called Ojo needs to make it.

Agree about Ojo. He looks a real talent .

How is Jack Robinson doing? Will he make it?

Been doing well at Blackpool apparently, whether that's good enough for us is another thing. If you'd asked me two years ago I'd say he was going to be our LB for the next decade but he hasn't really improved much since then. Ironically if he'd stayed instead of going to Blackburn he probably would have gotten the chance that Flanagan got and things might have turned out very differently for both of them.
