Sky Sports reporting that Solskjaer supposedly met with the owner and the Chairman recently.

Farcical.

Strange one for Solskjaer or any currently employed manager. Why would you leave your club to go work for thatowner ?

I think they'll have to settle for an unemployed manager, someone desperate to get back into management.

Its often said amongst managers, don't pick a club, pick a chairman.

Very cynical timing - let him do the Boxing Day game to reduce the protests - then sack him the day after knowing they have no home game until 11 Jan - will be a new manager in place by then and the City fans will suck it up like they did with the kit. Without Tan's money they're f***ed, with it they;re f***ed

Actually that's b******s - they're home to Sunderland on 28th. FFS

I think the lure of a Premiership managerial job (assuming he wants one) would probably cause Solskjaer to walk away from the bright lights of Molde. In a way, it might be a great job for him to take - gets him back in the spotlight and he'll have sympathy if he doesn't exactly set the world alight, given the situation with the owner.

That said, I have no idea why they'd sack Mackay to recruit Solkskjaer. But this is Tan we're talking about ... so anything is possible.

I don't know, I think Solskjaer could get a better one, he was offered Villa after McLeish and turned it down.

Most lucrative and high profile league in the world, likely a decent amount to spend relative to the competition and a fair chance of staying up and going again. Maybe he or anyone else thinks they can do a better job managing Tan. Often do think they can do better than the last guy don't they managers

Especially when there should be vacancies at Villa, Norwich and West Ham soon.

Didn't he have one of the highest net spends this summer? (edit yes he did) and he bought his way to the Championship

For all the rightful outrage over how bad Tan is, I'm not sure Mackay has done that good a job.

If Tan had done to him what Soton did to Adkins it'd be a smart move.

He turned down Villa so I don't think Tan's project would interest him.

Funnily enough, after withdrawing his interest from Villa, Lerner was looking at these 3 managers

Lerner and Faulkner will now return to a shortlist containing the names of Roberto Martínez, Brendan Rodgers and Paul Lambert, although approaches for any of those three managers would appear far from straightforward.

Martínez rejected the chance to join Villa last summer and has also been on Liverpool's radar, Rodgers turned down an interview at Anfield last week while Norwich have spoken about their determination to hold on to Lambert.

Well that all went well.

Villa are on a multi year drive to return to profit and stay in the prem using the academy, having spent loads under O'Neill and GH. Cardiff have spent relatively big amounts and likely will again. Anyway he's met them.

The West Brom market is mad.. Yesterday Pepe Mel was home and hosed. Today Mackay is favourite and I'm holding a ticket for Rangnick at 15 and he's now 25
