Who has the best run of second 19 games. Who has the worst?

1. Arsenal have a tough time in the new year

2. Everton have a tough period, but are going really well, and are sleeper hits this year.

3. Chelsea has the easiest run.

4. Man City, have to play us, Everton, Man Utd, Arsenal away so possibly have the toughest, given their away from.

5. Man Utd, fairly cruisy, still need to play Chelsea, Arsenal away though.

6. Spurs, have a tough run for a bit, still need to play Chelsea, us, Man Utd and Everton away.

For comparison:

We have 10 home games, 9 away. We have Soton and ManU away in March. All our other aways are against the current bottom seven.

I really fancy our chances based on our fixtures for the final 19. Come new year, all our toughest fixtures will be over and done with.

Loving the league this year. We're top now but could easily be 6 or 7th after the next 2 games, that's how close it is. But if we can get 4 points from our ext three, add sone new faces, we're in for a chance

I'm still a bit apprehensive. We're the best in the league, along with City, at smashing the weakest teams and we've played the majority of these at Anfield now. Our away form has been ropey up until Spurs. We need to be as ruthless against the s**** away from Anfield. Hull still lingers long in the memory.

The only thing harshing my buzz at the minute is the creeping knowledge that despite our brilliant run and wonderful play, Everton could easily be 4 points clear of us in a week and ManU only two behind.

True, we've played 6 of the bottom 7 at home already.

Wait, so the fact that we've had the easiest teams at home and the most difficult teams away (and still come out top), and soon get to play the easy teams away and the difficult teams at home - This is worrying for you?

Yes, it's not difficult.

that was my worry before the spurs game, but we smashed them so i'm hopeful of decent results against city and chelsea. besides, everton have arsenal so i dont expect 6 points from them either.

it's hard to see us not being in the top 4 on january 1st

I've got a mate as some of you may remember is an Everton and ManU fan, but did loads of history stuff on English footie and often calls himself a Football fan more than anything else... Anyways recalling his bizarre encyclopedic knowledge of footie during the summer he did a review on this seasons footie and said that this year would be f***ing amazing and very exciting prem league because Arsenal haven't made any changes compared to the rest, so they would get a great start and is theirs to f*** up, Cities money and quality will still be a threat but like Manu and Chelsea they are under new management, Spurs have lost Bale and can spend the money well or craply, the season will tell on that one... SO, basically, this is the most open season we have had in long long time, and so far, he is not wrong.

Everton have a pretty easy time coming up, but their last 6-8 games are tough. Our tough period is now, then February, I think.

I can see what Dan is getting at, but I'd rather have Arsenal, Chelsea, Everton, City, Newcastle, Spurs at home in the second half if we need points off them than have them away. Utd away isn't as frightening as it used to be either.

Yes, it's not difficult.

I guess it's not. Just weird.

It really is always better to play good teams at home and the poor teams away, as opposed to the other way around.

We've dropped three points at home this season. Highly unlikely for the second half of the season imo. I'm not yet convinced that our away form will improve either. Next two games might make me think differently.

He's just saying we've already had our easiest games - ie the bottom teams at home. Not weird at all

well yeah, but we've also had our most difficult ones. 9 of the top 12 away (well, come new years anyway. And we're one of those 12, so only two difficult teams away in the second half).

I fancy us to pick up a lot more points against the top 12 at home in the second half of the season than we've managed away against in the first half.

And conversely, I think we'll drop fewer points away from home to the bottom seven in the second half in comparison to our home form than we've dropped against the top 12 in the first half.

All other things being equal, we really should be picking up more points in the second half of the sesaon.

by half way through the season , assuming it all goes right for arsenal and wrong for us, then we could still be 8 points off the lead. I think we have a slightly better set of games int he second half but it really emphasizes the performance we have to put in for the next 2 games just to stay in contention and near the top.

anyhow remember that it can all be screwed up by the refs....
