Forum help please

A few lads I know go away every year, golf and on the piss for 4 or 5 days. FAR too heavy duty for me but their base this year will be Chester in the summer.

 

They know I have a lot of family in the North West but hardly any play golf. I'm after recommendations please, decent courses within say a 30 minute drive. A really good municipal is fine, 'hidden gems' the ideal, or good quality members courses who perhaps take a County card?

 

Hoylake etc. is probably too expensive but they don't want to play on a goat track either.
