The World at War

I've been watching this series over the last few weeks for the first time since I initially saw it in the 70's.

 

It really is an exceptional series and it's hard to believe it is now about 40 years old. I haven't seen too much to equal it to be honest. So much of the footage is amazing and there are some truly bizarre scenes in it that I can't recall at all. The one dealing with the start of the war had a really odd clip in it of this strange Nazi dance that they were doing in a dance hall with the "Heil Hitler" sign in it.

 

I suppose they could update it now and maybe have more extensive and tougher to find film clips in it, but for its day, the series was really awesome. Olivier's voice can't be beat.
