The_Adder Posted November 25, 2013 Posted November 25, 2013 Couldn't see his own thread and thought he deserves one. Thought he was superb on Saturday, perfect game for him. He has an on form Mirallas and a very talented Gerard Deulofeu to put up with and when they were down his side of the pitch they couldn't get past him. Mirallas did him once and then after that he was as solid as anything. Wondering if he'll get a run now, Rodgers seems to like him, amazed that he has got back into our first 11 after completely writing him off. Not looking good for Cissokho.
yellow jumper Posted November 25, 2013 Posted November 25, 2013 made more good decisions on saturday than most of the rest of the team,

muleskinner Posted November 25, 2013 Posted November 25, 2013 he had a couple of decent games under Kenny and then fell to pieces after that Gutierrez destroyed him.
Knox_Harrington Posted November 25, 2013 Posted November 25, 2013 Thought he played really well on Saturday. He reads the game well, kept his head, won a couple of good tackles. But a couple of times Miralles went passed him like he wasn't there. He's got no recovery pace and if he gets stood up then he's out the game. If a wide player gets motoring against him he is going to have a tough time. His aim has to be stopping them from getting motoring.
Earl Hafler Posted November 25, 2013 Posted November 25, 2013 He looked quick against Arsenal. Might be the initial two or three yards. Thought the best part of his game on Saturday was awareness and anticipation which led to him covering the centre halves and stopping two or three potentially dangerous Everton attacks. Agger switched off a few times and Flanno read the play. Two different displays against Everton and Arsenal showing potential in different areas. Pity we've had no league or European campaign for players like him, although conversely it may have been beneficial for some senior players.
The_Adder Posted November 25, 2013 Author Posted November 25, 2013 Anyone reckon he might get a good run at left back until Jose is back?
honourablegeorge Posted November 25, 2013 Posted November 25, 2013 hard work on the training pitch paying off Nice to see a young player come back into the mix after previously being written off. Says something for Rodgers' management that he's been able to build the kid's confidence back up and improve him as a player.

Says something for Rodgers' management that he's been able to build the kid's confidence back up and improve him as a player. It's a bit early to write him back 'on' though, after one good game. He's clearly earned his chance to show if he can keep this up, but even if he can, we need to buy someone in Jan
sean Posted November 25, 2013 Posted November 25, 2013 I was surprised, having seen him before and not noticed, how comfortable he was on the ball. Wasn't afraid to run past it either.
honourablegeorge Posted November 25, 2013 Posted November 25, 2013 It's a bit early to write him back 'on' though, after one good game. Well, he's gone from "completely written off" to "might be a player". Even if he only amounts to being our reserve left back for a year or two, it's a plus for us. I didn't expect to see him again.

I think his pace is decent, even his acceleration, it's his turning speed that's terrible. There are a lot of comparisons made with a young Jamie Carragher because of his spirit, fight, determination, but I think that's another one - Jamie was no slouch when he was younger, but he turned like the Titanic.
JRC Posted November 25, 2013 Posted November 25, 2013 he had a couple of decent games under Kenny and then fell to pieces after that Gutierrez destroyed him.Blackburn away did for him, even though he only played 30 minutes or so. Good to see him doing well enough to get another chance; he's an England Under-21 regular as well now, isn't he?

He needs games one way or the other.
torn Posted November 25, 2013 Posted November 25, 2013 Completely agree with all that.Kept the ball well too.
fred milne Posted November 25, 2013 Posted November 25, 2013 Anyone reckon he might get a good run at left back until Jose is back?I'd imagine he will. That was a much better display than Cissokho has managed so far.
cymrococh Posted November 26, 2013 Posted November 26, 2013 Anyone reckon he might get a good run at left back until Jose is back?Position is his now. Unless we go back to 3 at the back then there's no reason to change.
Stevie H Posted November 26, 2013 Posted November 26, 2013 cissokho looked a strange signing at the time and looks increasingly like a dead duck of an addition doesn't he? least he's only on loan i suppose.

Nah, hasn't been in the squad for a couple of years. cissokho looked a strange signing at the time and looks increasingly like a dead duck of an addition doesn't he? least he's only on loan i suppose. He's probably the least like a "Rodgers player" we've signed in his time here. Edited November 26, 2013 by Maldini

At least we loaned him. We've signed players like him for £5M in the past and ended up stuck with them for years.
