Been a while since I've had a few before or after the game, always drive these days but getting the train in this time so going to have a few with a couple of the lads. Where do we think are the best boozers? Was going the Sandon but it'll be rammed like. Any suggestions would be good.

I feel like such a wool asking this.

Used to always go there but it's used as an away pub a bit these days isn't it?

Nah, not really, thats the arkles which is the away pub now.

We stand outside with cans, diet coke for me as I am often driving.

The Old Barn.

Can't believe it's come to this. You big wool.

Where's the old barn cuz? I am a wool these days, might as well face facts. I live in Tarporley for gods sake. Are you back / going Sunday?

was in the Albert before notts county for the first time in years, bleeding terrible singing in there, half a dozen of them at the back giving everything the dirge treatment

Got a nightmare journey back with an over night flight to heathrow then train back up. Haven't made any arrangements to go on Sunday. Had a really boss time, and will deffo be coming back sooner rather than later.

The Old Barn is on Old Barn Road, near the junction of Breck Road and Oakfield Road.

The King Harry, suggested by Wayne, is good too. That's where our Dads have been known to have a bevvie with strange sorts they have met on the internet (present company excepted).

Always used to drink in the flat iron, had many a lock in there, but it's gone way down hill, to the point that friends in Anfield won't drink in there anymore. It's been a bit of an away pub for a while I reckon, for the more intrepid fan and for a few d****eads.

Last time I was in there was (I think) the Chelsea 1-3 in 2009. It was well moody, full of their nobheads and a few of ours as well, who I think had remembered the year before when their lot were acting up in there.

I nipped in for a piss through the back room with the pool table and big brawls prompty broke out by each door with me stuck in the middle in a blue jacket and with a red scarf hanging out of my pocket, ripe for a smacking by either side.

I managed to duck out and it all spilled outside, mounted police charging up the street to rescue thier lads who were cornered and getting bombarded with bottles.

Can remeber Cardiff being their usual charmless selves in there in 2007 as well.

Shame, it used to be sound in there. I remember going there post Roma and Barca in 2001.

I also found a ticket for the Inter Milan game in 2008 on the floor outside there. Gave it in at the ground.

I tend to stick to the simplicity of Le Rouge these days, or maybe the Merebank.

Cardiff I remember for the bizzies being well narked with them, they were bladdered.

Dont mind the merebank either.

I'm drinking in the park before this one

not The Park...the park

a park in Wavertree called 'The Mystery' cos nobody knows how it got there

apart from that, the Sandon wall with a few tinnies is the best place to drink before a game; you can also watch protest marches from there and get a few photies

or join in and flick the vs at the bewildered corporate day trippers in the Sandon conservatory and call them scabs and that

great days

The Mystery is a lovely spot for a good drink up on a Sunday morning, by the railway there.

Speaking of scabs, was disappointed that wasnt reprised for the Notts County game.

I find this fascinating, and scaring day trippers sounds good too, although technically I myself would be a daytripper. that might make the buzz more intense.

ha yes had forgotten about the scabs song

talking of which, I think it's time Ged Poynton got tarred and feathered....just saying

I haven't seen many drinkers there even though I'm often running there while the boy has his footy training...perhaps I'll seek a few out this morning

I used to live a couple of hundred yards from the mystery, for about 17 years in all with my dad - many happy memories. In terms of drinking there, my recollections are of swigging a 4 pack of strongbow or tennants super on the mystery with my mates before going to The Lamb then Chillies. #classy

weird how so many youngsters (myself included) go through this tenants super phase

it's utterly repulsive; I guess it's the drunkenness to monetary expenditure co-efficient that the youth are mindful of, but don't quite have the wherewithall to think through properly

although factoid: last time I pulled a bird in open play (not speed dating) I'd downed a few tenants with a mate who drinks like a tramp
