Case Posted August 26, 2013 Posted August 26, 2013 Right - The road to Wembley starts with tomorrow night's home game v Notts County, currently 4th bottom of what should still be known as Division Three (North). The last time they beat us was before Shanks' time, so the mocker Gods have something to work with there. They're managed by tricky ex-winger Chris Kiwomya and before that by Keith Curle, so their board seems to be stuck in some kind of Initial letter Phonetic time-warp. When/If Kiwomya gets sacked, expect ex-reds legend Kevin Keegan to get a call. Keep an eye out for top scorer, big Enoch Showunmi up front. They generally play 4-4-2 (remember that?) so expect their wingers to bash the ball into the box. I'm waiting for the Heat Map of their home defeat to Stevenage on Saturday to be faxed through. When I get it, you get it. The match is Live on Sky Sports at 7.45pm, and I fully expect our team to be ... MignoletKelly-Wisdom-Skrtel-CissokhoAllen-LucasHenderson-Sterling-Luis AlbertoSturridge Subs: Jones, Kolo, Enrique, Borini, Aspas, Ibe, Assaidi Bring it on.

Think (and hope) it will be Borini up front instead of Sturridge, and I wouldn't be surprised if Lucas is rested too so might end up with Henderson alongside Allen, and Assaidi (or possibly Ibe) in the starting line up. Cheesecake Posted August 26, 2013 Posted August 26, 2013 (edited) Jesus no, please keep Mignolet, Lucas, Hendo and Sturridge out of this. Your line up needs sorting - get Brad (shudder) Ibe, Borini in there for starters, midfield in place of Lucas? dunno, who can start? Coady is on loan for the year isnt he? Earl Hafler Posted August 26, 2013 Posted August 26, 2013 Play Kelly and / or Wisdom in centre defence, play Ibe and Sterling wide with Alberto behind Borini in attack. Allen and Lucas centre mid.

Tommy Cockles Posted August 26, 2013 Posted August 26, 2013 Play the children. We should at least think of them.
Florist Cinema Pond Goal Posted August 26, 2013 Posted August 26, 2013 Bib theory - Mignolet, Johnson, Wisdom, Toure, Cissokho, Allen, Gerrard, Sterling, Alberto, Ibe, Sturridge
Molby Posted August 26, 2013 Posted August 26, 2013 We should at least think of them. but not play WITH them one road leads to Wembley (and the sack) whereas the other leads to jail (Walton, Strangeways etc)
Rory Fitzgerald Posted August 26, 2013 Posted August 26, 2013 Sturridge said his ankle wasn't 100% and was playing ahead of when he should have been. Cant see him playing this one with Borini not getting a minute in the league so far.
Maldini Posted August 26, 2013 Posted August 26, 2013 Bit of talk on RAWK that Rossiter might be on the bench.
RafaShanks Posted August 26, 2013 Posted August 26, 2013 Play the entire 2nd team squad. With a few big guns on the bench of course, just in case.
Rory Fitzgerald Posted August 26, 2013 Posted August 26, 2013 Play the entire 2nd team squad. Thats a bit unfair on Notts County, how many are in this squad ?

Gunga Din Posted August 26, 2013 Posted August 26, 2013 im all for playing our best 11 in this, minus Gerrard, who i would bench. gets everyone fitter and hopefully give them a hiding to get confidence going we dont playa gain to sunday, and i think at this stage of the season the extra game for everyone is beneficial

Do you think theres value in giving squad players a game though, get them up to fitness so we can use them if needed. It will be an interesting selection.
McBain Posted August 26, 2013 Posted August 26, 2013 Lambert mentioned after the weekend that even this early in the season his players felt the 3 games in 7 days in their legs and it affected performance. It was perhaps a cop out and flimsy excuse but perhaps not. Rest up the most important for the Mancs and keep them fresh
