épieur Posted August 13, 2013 Posted August 13, 2013 With Downing, Spearing, Shelvey and Caroll now gone, who will try to fill the boots of legendary scapegoats like Traore, Smicer, Adam, Konchesky, Poulsen, Riise and Pennant as players that played for too many games than many liked? Who we be able to serially criticise for being donkeys and perhaps utter the immortal words "we'll never win the league as long as X gets games for us" about? Borini could be a good shout, but I fear he won't be getting the gametime you'd expect from an 8m signing this season, if he is even here. Other than that, there is always Enrique whom I predict will elicit a regular stream of criticism for his headless displays. I reckon Allen will see his fair share of "what is the point of him" and "just another spearing" before he finds his feet again and helps the team rise a level.

The good thing is that now that Downing has left its quite hard to say. That has to be good!
goodrobotusses Posted August 13, 2013 Posted August 13, 2013 Ayre. Although he is a bit of a fool, so y'know.
sutty Posted August 13, 2013 Posted August 13, 2013 Joe Allen was getting this at times last season He's defo the man
richwilks Posted August 13, 2013 Posted August 13, 2013 Joe Allen was getting this at times last season He's defo the man Happy for the lad.
Leo No.8 Posted August 13, 2013 Posted August 13, 2013 Joe Allen was getting this at times last season He's defo the man Yeah he came to mind but I think he's going to turn people around this season, as long as we can get the balance right in midfield.
smithdown Posted August 13, 2013 Posted August 13, 2013 Joe Allen was getting this at times last season He's defo the man Joe Allen who has been described as our best player in the first half of the season? Think it works both ways with the lad, tbh.
D.Boon Posted August 13, 2013 Posted August 13, 2013 If Mignolet isn't magnificent in every game i fear for him.
smithdown Posted August 13, 2013 Posted August 13, 2013 Skrtel and/or Agger again it'll be whoever is deemed to be on big wages
Cobs Posted August 13, 2013 Posted August 13, 2013 Gerrard will be the elephant in the room that Brendan needs to deal with after his first bad game
Cam Posted August 13, 2013 Posted August 13, 2013 Suarez, whether he stays or goes.Yep. Plus Mignolet. Then from November onwards the Scapegoatitis will build & build on Rodgers.
FirstDescent Posted August 13, 2013 Posted August 13, 2013 Agger, we should have shipped him off to Barcelona when we had the chance. If Johnson continues his form from last year then he is a candidate.
honourablegeorge Posted August 13, 2013 Posted August 13, 2013 We might not even have signed this season's scapegoats yet.
The_Adder Posted August 13, 2013 Posted August 13, 2013 We might not even have signed this season's scapegoats yet. We can only hope
JonShar Posted August 13, 2013 Posted August 13, 2013 I hate s*** like this. The scapegoats are either going to be the players who look like they don't give a toss or our worst performers, as they almost always are.

crisps Posted August 13, 2013 Posted August 13, 2013 (edited) Borini, Enrique, Allen. In that order. Think Borini might get away with it as he 'probably' wont play as much. I'm going for 1. Allen...2. Whichever left back plays3. Outside bet on Lucas (if he doesn't destroy every midfield every game and people decide he's not the player he was before injury) Edited August 13, 2013 by crisps
Chili Palmer Posted August 13, 2013 Posted August 13, 2013 By November Enrique will be blamed for everything from letting crosses come over too easily to the Royal baby having colic
Sir Tokyo Sexwale Posted August 13, 2013 Posted August 13, 2013 AllenBoriniEnriqueMingolet I'd concur with this list
sutty Posted August 13, 2013 Posted August 13, 2013 Joe Allen who has been described as our best player in the first half of the season? Think it works both ways with the lad, tbh. He wasn't Ste. That was the issue I think.
