2 days ago my Sky box stopped working.

 

I called them up and told them what the error message was. They said that they could arrange for someone to come around but it would either be EUR 100 upfront or EUR 9.99 per month on my bill for 12 months. I told him I would think about it and call him back. I was a customer of theirs for 8 years.

 

Got straight on to UPC and ordered their package. I will be paying a bit more but I am getting another multi-room.

 

I called up Sky and told them I wanted cancel and they asked why. I told them about my problem and the outrageous charges I was quoted - immediately he offered me new boxes AND a discount. I told him it was too late and had already placed an order with UPC.

 

Basically, they will quote you a charge and hope that you pay it. If you don't, they will then offer you the sun. I have been threatening to go to UPC for a while, I am glad this happened.

 

Except, I am without TV from last Thursday to next Tuesday !! :angry:
