"I feel like I'm in a bubble at the moment," he told Liverpoolfc.com. "For me Liverpool is a top team. I feel like I am dreaming and I want to enjoy it to the full. "I feel very excited, I've never felt so excited before but I'm very happy. I think I am the happiest man on earth. "I was surprised [when Liverpool showed interest in me]. You never expect this to happen to you. But as the deal moved forward, I became very happy and I wanted to come to Liverpool. "I have come here to enjoy moments with the supporters - and I know the supporters will help me to never walk alone. "I hope that between us all we can make this club one of the greatest in the world, once again." Alberto is a versatile attacker who learned his trade at Sevilla's Academy. He broke into their B side in 2009 before being handed his first-team debut in April 2011. The 2012-13 campaign saw Alberto complete a year-long loan switch to Barcelona B, where he notched an impressive 11 goals and provided 17 assists in 38 appearances. The Spaniard, who can pick a devastating pass effortlessly, has a knack of drifting into goalscoring positions - and he believes he has all the right attributes to slot seamlessly into Rodgers' side. "I came to the club because of the manager," explained Alberto. "I came here because of the style of football he plays. "I don't have a favourite position - it depends on the team's tactics really. I like to move about and I don't mind where I play. "I like to play with freedom. I'm a technical player. I provide assists and in the penalty area I score goals." http://www.liverpoolfc.com/news/latest-news/luis-i-m-the-happiest-man-on-earth Welcome Luis. Intriguing signing. Can't wait to see him play
Billy Talbot Posted June 22, 2013 Posted June 22, 2013 Welcome Luis. Intriguing signing. Can't wait to see him play Yeah, it's an interesting one. Very little hype. Could be beneficial.
Sion Posted June 22, 2013 Posted June 22, 2013 (edited) Its all a bit perculiar this.He clearly tore s*** up in the Spanish version of the Championship. But then again he was playing with some amazing young players so that will have helped. But then why didn't he get in the Spain U-21 squad.Probably because they have Isco and Thiago. But then why didn't Barcelona want to keep him. Probably because they have Thiago and DeulofeuBut then why didn't Sevilla want to keep him. Hopefully another Coutinho style signing. Edited June 22, 2013 by Sion

Plus, they got twice as much from us as they would've from the agreed fee with Barcelona - so they're laughin'. Totally with you on your train of thought there though! Farmer's Tan Posted June 22, 2013 Posted June 22, 2013 he has a similar jaw to reira, reminds me of that dude from sesame street.
RedMersey Posted June 22, 2013 Posted June 22, 2013 But then why didn't Sevilla want to keep him.Rakitic, Trochowski, Perotti, Reyes and £7m. Add this to the Navas-fee, and they've got £24m to strengthen that position, and they won't be missing Luis Alberto as he was loaned out last year.
carrafan Posted June 22, 2013 Posted June 22, 2013 But then why didn't Sevilla want to keep him. They did. But then, we're paying a large sum of money for someone who is completely unproven in the first league. Also, Luis wanted to join us. I'm not sure of what his contract situation was, at Seville.
Clay Davis Posted June 22, 2013 Posted June 22, 2013 Luis Alberto,He drinks Cruzcampo,Came from Sevilla,To bring us joy,5 foot 11, he's football heaven,Don't ever take our Luis away. Gomez Posted June 22, 2013 Posted June 22, 2013 Why do we always get photos of new signings with Ayre now? Didn't it used to be the manager? Is this a PR exercise on behalf of Ayre, because they know he's not exactly popular, or to dissociate the manager from the signings because of the committee?
RafaShanks Posted June 22, 2013 Author Posted June 22, 2013 Rodgers: Luis can be like Coutinho22nd Jun 2013 - Latest News Brendan Rodgers has spoken of his joy at the capture of Luis Alberto from Sevilla – and insisted he can see similarities between the Spaniard and Liverpool playmaker Philippe Coutinho. The 20-year-old signed a long-term deal with the Reds, subject to international clearance, on Saturday morning. Rodgers was delighted to complete the transfer and believes Alberto can follow in the footsteps of January signing Coutinho, who made an instant impact at Anfield after arriving from Inter Milan. The boss told talkSPORT: "He's another Coutinho-type. We brought in young Philippe Coutinho in January when he was 20 years of age but he had good experience and more importantly fitted the profile of what we're trying to do here and what we're trying to build. "Young Luis is exactly the same - a talented, very highly-rated young player when he was at Sevilla, but obviously spent last season at Barcelona B. "He's a big talent and one for now that can play. He's got competitive games behind him and is one we see progressing over the next few years. "Importantly, he knows the type of game and model we're trying to work in." http://www.liverpoolfc.com/news/latest-news/rodgers-luis-can-be-like-coutinho

Manager wasn't around for Coutinho either, in court, gone to Spain this time I think saw some comments about Marbella under the story in Marca

Leo No.8 Posted June 24, 2013 Posted June 24, 2013 Good test of our new scouting network this. The fee we are paying and his status in terms of first team appearances etc suggests we believe that he is under valued and under rated in terms of his talent. Will be interesting to see if we are right.

Will be interesting to see if we are right. Considering the need to improve the side radically, we can't afford not to be. It's a very risky strategy so far.
