Fracture - Nancy Nail

Bootser III managed to fall out of a tree on Saturday night. (About 20ft drop) Luckily his fall was broken but has fractured his humerus up near the scapula - quite a 'spectacular' fracture as the consultant described it. He had an operation yesterday morning and had a Nancy Nail inserted from the elbow to bone. We have been told it will be in for 6 - 9 months.

 

Anyone any experience of these? How debilitating? Could he play footy with it? Of course he was due to start his end of 3rd year exams today!!!

 

I can tell you it was panic stations when I went out to him and he was lying there perfectly still.
