Lou Reed

I have been listening to a lot of Lou Reed's solo work recently and I have pretty much managed to convince myself that it is ALL s***. The only abum actually worth listening to is Transfromer and that, I have decided, is because it is a David Bowie album by proxy and has not a lot to do with Lou Reed. The other 'classic' Reed albums - Berlin, New York etc. are pretty much over-rated dross and most of the others are just dull as f***.

 

Not much of which may be much of a revelation but it is now my official stance on the matter.

 

John Cale should have turned The Gift into an actual performance with Reed in the lead role in about '68.

 

 

 

I still think the Velvets were one of the best half dozen groups of all time though. f*** off Matty.
