"Kolo should not be short of conversation with Australian goalkeeper Brad Jones when he is introduced to the Liverpool squad - the pair share a birthday, March 19. The Ivorian is one year older than his new teammate, however - Toure was born in 1981, while Jones was born in 1982."

One of the greatest defenders in the game today.

Maybe he was at one time but he's past his best and he's 32 years of age - hence being a 'freebie' (except for the substantial wage packet). Suspect FSB are trying to be parsimonious.

Kolo is 32 and his best mate Kanu is 34 whilst Obafemi Martins is eligible for the U-21's.

Bottom line - does he improve the squad? Answer yes.

And if 75kpw plus 2 years is correct then that's fine by me - assuming we didn't pay crazy money in a signing on fee

He's free, experienced and has played in teams which expect to win. He's not the same player he was five or six years ago, but barring some dreadful drop in form (which might happen, we don't know) he's probably as good a signing as we're going to get for a couple of years as a rotational option.

I'm pleased with this, although I reserve the right to claim I always knew he was s*** and a waste of money if it transpires that he's s*** and a waste of money.

Blimey. Knew this was on the cards but wasn't expecting such a quick announcement. Hopefully a sign that we will get the majority of our business done early.

He's always been my favourite non-LFC defender of course.:popcorn:

Used to think he was great at Arsenal. Not seen that much of him at City but somewhere down the line have decided he's not that great anymore

Now he's great again, obviously

I think he's come on leaps and bounds from where he was at, at Arsenal. He's positionally pretty sound now, except for the odd f*** up and still hasn't lost any physicality.

Have you developed some special computer code that automatically posts that in response to ANYTHING that sniffer posts?

If so, well done.
