stressederic Posted May 13, 2013 Posted May 13, 2013 Pellegrini is ace, right decision. Not a great decision for the rest of the league though.
dorgie Posted May 13, 2013 Author Posted May 13, 2013 Apparently Rodgers is now the 7th longest serving manager (with the same club) in the Premier League.
Murphman Posted May 13, 2013 Posted May 13, 2013 How utterly shocking. Who saw this coming? City supporters group utterly dismayed according to their spokesman this morning, almost to a man they support Mancini for what he's achieved. Fair play to them.
Billy Dane Posted May 13, 2013 Posted May 13, 2013 So that 4 out of the top 6 changing their manager this summer, pretty unusual state of affairs. Also hearing whispers that Mark Hughes is going to Stoke, 33-1 at Stan James at the moment.
Swipe Posted May 13, 2013 Posted May 13, 2013 (edited) 'This has been a difficult decision for the owner, Chairman and Board to make and it is the outcome of a planned end of season review process that has been brought forward in light of recent speculation and out of respect for Roberto and his extensive contributions to the Football Club." As close to a 'we've sacked him to end the speculation' as you're gonna get. Edited May 13, 2013 by Swipe
dorgie Posted May 13, 2013 Author Posted May 13, 2013 Is Wenger the only current Premier League manager who has won the Premier League now (taking it that Ferguson is gone, albeit not quite yet) ?
Bailo Posted May 13, 2013 Posted May 13, 2013 Never saw what Mancini actually did with that team. Should have stormed the league this year and last.
Ombudsam Posted May 13, 2013 Posted May 13, 2013 Never saw what Mancini actually did with that team. Should have stormed the league this year and last. Won the league and FA Cup. i get the feeling that a lot of City fans will be as bemused by the perception of Mancini as Liverpool fans are with the perception of Rafa.
Hassony Posted May 13, 2013 Posted May 13, 2013 Also hearing whispers that Mark Hughes is going to Stoke, 33-1 at Stan James at the moment. good, about time Stoke went down Never saw what Mancini actually did with that team. Should have stormed the league this year and last. winning the premiership isn't easy
stressederic Posted May 13, 2013 Posted May 13, 2013 winning the premiership isn't easy Yep. Mancini wasn't a brilliant manager but he won the league. Can't do much more than that really. I don't buy the argument that it was *only* on goal difference either. When we finished 2nd in 2009 our goal difference was miles ahead of United's. If we'd finished level on points I'd of laughed my socks off at a title on goal difference.
Sir Tokyo Sexwale Posted May 13, 2013 Posted May 13, 2013 it's not so much that they won the League as how - they were 2-1 down in the 90th min & needing to win. With the money spent, they should have done better last season and this
stressederic Posted May 13, 2013 Posted May 13, 2013 it's not so much that they won the League as how - they were 2-1 down in the 90th min & needing to win. With the money spent, they should have done better last season and this Oh they made it far more difficult than they needed to but they still won it. I'd wager City fans have better memories of the moment they won the title last year than United do this year for instance.
Sir Tokyo Sexwale Posted May 13, 2013 Posted May 13, 2013 I have better memories.....it was the best way (in hindsight)
Hassony Posted May 13, 2013 Posted May 13, 2013 it's not so much that they won the League as how - they were 2-1 down in the 90th min & needing to win. With the money spent, they should have done better last season and this rubbish getting rid of mancini is probably the right decision because he will always struggle in europe
Raj Posted May 13, 2013 Posted May 13, 2013 Well it seems now that they have the two fella from Barca, that they have a vision about how they want to play and are addressing it across the whole club Everything that they have done so far, has been really haphazard before theirappointment. Look at the disagreements between Marwood and Mancini and the bizarre signings of Sinclair, Rodwell and Garcia last summer.
yellow jumper Posted May 13, 2013 Posted May 13, 2013 (edited) sounds and looked like he lost the dressing room, no easy way back from that. football was a bit italian too. but they were outside top 4 three years ago, with no real experience of winning to call on. don't think he's a great manager, but he doesn't have a bad record over that time, regardless of money. few english clubs have struggled with CL in first few years of qualification, although know he also underperformed with inter. pelligrini not a shoo-in to improve results short term, even if he looks a better manager. Barnesy_10 Posted May 13, 2013 Posted May 13, 2013 What odds can I get on Ferguson taking over at City?
StevieC Posted May 13, 2013 Posted May 13, 2013 He's s*** and a f***ing c***. Is right. This is bad news. If that current squad learns to play as a team they'll be frightening - let alone with a new manager bringing the likes of Isco in.
Hassony Posted May 13, 2013 Posted May 13, 2013 What odds can I get on Ferguson taking over at City? and taking rooney with him
John am Rhein Posted May 14, 2013 Posted May 14, 2013 What odds can I get on Ferguson taking over at City? probably limited by the length of the 'number' field they put the odds value in If it's a 32-bit integer then 2147483647-1
Redray Posted May 14, 2013 Posted May 14, 2013 De Jong tweeted this just before the official announcement last night. Nigel de Jong @NDJ_Official13h" Make sure everybody in your boat is rowing and not drilling holes when you're not looking. Know your circle..." Don't think he was talking about Milan.
