End of the season coming up, over for us a while ago, and the debate is starting over Brendan and the review of his first season with us. Getting bored with the endless posts about whether this year has been good/crap/expected/tolerable and so on.

Let's see where the forum stands on his performance this season.

There's certainly a debate to be had about Brendan but I'm not sure it justifies a vote. And certainly not with the season still ongoing.

But I'm voing for the Bring Back Roy option just for soccer-lolz.

It would be ridiculous to sack him, but it was ridiculous to sack Rafa (and replace with Roy), and ridiculous to sack Kenny (and replace with Rodgers).

He's shown a decent amount in the time we've had him. Of more pressing concern I think is the degree to which he'll be backed in the summer. We need good players, in key positions.

Without proper backing in the transfer window, I don't feel we can adequately judge whether he's been good or not. I want a good transfer window for him and a full second season before I can even begin to judge his performance.

This is still nowhere near the team he'd like, and it's showing in performances and set-up on the pitch.

I dont think hes shown anywhere near enough. My opinion of him has changed very little in the past 9 months. I knew he was agood manager. I knew he liked to play attractive football etc.

I didnt know if he was good enough to bring us back to where we were 4-5 years ago. I still dont. Im not sure what he has shown that we didnt already know about him.

There is no option, Brendan to stay because I don't trust FSG to get anyone better.

Good point. If Brendan was their first choice and Martinez their second... who the feck would be their third choice?!

We approached De Boer and spoke to van Gaal, while I imagine we probably made some s**** tentative enquiry for Klopp. So it's not like we were about to appoint Nigel Adkins, really.

Another season. Give him another window and you'd hope we're hitting top 4 next May. If not, move him on next summer and bring in a manager who will evolve the squad rather than tearing it up (which should be the case as we now have a bulk of good young technically able players).

Quite sad that certain elements of the fanbase can't get behind the manager. We're on a fast track to being the new Newcastle.

He's got to get all of next season at least. He's spent plenty of money to make us slightly better than West Brom and not quite as good as Everton. That's not acceptable, but all our chopping and changing managers lately has just put us on an overall downward trajectory. That strategy is no good. Unfortunately the club and our main rivals are in financial positions where it's difficult to imagine us aspiring to higher than fourth right now. Short of a 100 million investment it's hard to see how can expect to challenge for the title, and if that isn't forthcoming it's not the managers fault. Any problems, as has been the case for over 20 years now, are primarily down to the owners.

I am not and have never been fussed in him, but he needs to be given more time to try and implement whatever he believes in. If at this time next year, we still can't defend, then that's a different matter .
