Having spent most of my life in I.T. I am currently retraining to be an electrician (There's not much call for I.T. staff where I now live, and I knew that before I moved here, so no problem there...).

I have my latest set of formal exams next week and I've been studying hard for a few months - to the point where nothing new seems to be going in - I'll be 50 years old on Wednesday, and I'm starting to find the memory retention of some difficult concepts to be a real problem - it's gotten to the point where I just want the damn exams to arrive now.

Anyway, I'm interested to know if any of you decided to take a decision to take an about turn in terms of career choice and how it worked out for you.. (obviously not as late in life as me!)
