I just can't see it coming off in Qatar. The European clubs are going to rebel. Mark my words.

It was a stupid idea in the first place. Half of what they promised was all cobblers anyway.

Blatter just went for one last pay off before he snuffs it.

It's incredible that he gets away with it, he is untouchable and doesn't give a f*ck. The Robert Mugabe of football.

latest noises coming out of the FA indicate the Winter World Cup is gonna happen, European leagues will feck up 2 seasons of fixtures and it'll be down to Platini securing votes to succeed Blatter. He's already proven he doesn't much give a schit about the fans/spectacle by his ideas for the Euros.

Like what?

well, the temperature controlled stadia was plainly a load of old schite, hence the desire to shift it to the Winter

I've an open mind about it, as long as it's fun. Running around a football theme park packed with football fans andh 10 stadia pretty much within walking distance could be a great experience. It can't be any worse than USA or South Africa (neither of which I was at but they didn't seem to be great for the fans)

Not sure anyone can justify saying that the 'integrity' of the European leagues means a middle eastern country should never hold a world cup - if moving it to winter is what it takes. The ACN is on in the winter and the world keeps turning.

Come on, Dus. The whole thing stinks. There's f*ck all to do. The heat & humidity are going to be a major problem for players & fans. There's not sufficient accomodation. This is a tiny country, with absolutely f*ck all footballing pedigree. This is about money paid for votes.

the European Leagues, Cups & Inter country torunaments don't stop because of the ACN and whilst it might be an idea to carry on the European calendar as normal and let teams play reserves/squad players (like they do say in Rugby Union while the 6N is on) I'd say existing sponsorship deals means it simply isn't going to happen.

Smart thing to do would be just take a mid-season break, start a little earlier, finish a little later. Try and get 24 league games in from 1st August to 31st December, have it January and February and then have 14 to get in March - mid June. Start the following season in September and try to finish end of May and then it is approximately back to normal.

Could be a laugh.

tournament lasts a month, the squads will want at least 2 weeks beforehand - so a minimum of 7 weeks have to be created from somewhere

why f*ck the footballing calendar of 40-50 nations to accomodate a tournament in a tiny country that doesn't give a monkeys about football?

It's akin to having the Winter Olympics in Hampshire in the middle of June and saying don't worry money's not a problem, we'll build some mountains and create the snow

There's plenty of leagues that get f***ed about with by a summer World Cup. It's not the end of the World - just play about with it a bit.

more than 9 years to go as well, so plenty of time to sort something out anyway

I haven't been in, but was told the one built already was sound tho when they trialled it.

The Qataris play in normal arenas too, btw, with no temperature control.

I think it'll be alright in the end somehow, it'll be different and mad but it's the World Cup, it'll have to go to daft places at some point after near a hundred years.

Not really, cobs. FIFA accredited games take place in Qatar right now. Not sure of any ski-ing in Hampshire.

ha!

that's a bit like saying there's five a side games in Qatar, whereas there are World Cup qualifiers

there's already an ice rink in Portsmouth - this could happen ! All they're missing is a few hundred million to bribe some IOC officials...
