These are 19th in League One, 2 places and 4 points above the relegation zone. They've played 14 games at home this season and won 3 (drawing 3 and losing 8). Goals have been rare at Boundary Park - 13 scored and 18 against in 14 games, however they have been a bit more generous in conceding lately.

Their league form guide is W0 D1 L6 with their last win on December 8th, though they did win 3-2 away to Forest in the last round. Since their win on December 8th they have conceded 2 goals in each of 6 games and in the other, it was 4 (includes league & cup games) so there are goals to be had.

A guy I used to work with (when we were 15) plays for these at center-back. Cliff Byrne. Got taken to Sunderland around 2002 but quickly moved on to Scunthorpe and recently moved to Oldham.

Ex-Liverpool keeper, Dean Bouzanis, was on the bench the last time we played these but he is now their regular goalkeeper. Lee Croft plays for them as well, remember him from Man City when they had the dregs playing for them back in 2006. Croft is only 27, thought he was older whilst their manager is also ex-City - Paul Dickov.

Of more interest than those players is Jose Baxter.

He is 20yrs old and he spent 14 of them at Everton. He became Everton's youngest ever senior player in 2008 when he came on as a sub aged 16yrs and 191 days. He rejected a contract from Everton at the end of last season as he wanted to find 1st team football. He's now scored 11 goals in 25 games. He initially moved for 6mths but recently signed unil Summer 2015. He's made such an impression, the club have started selling Jose Baxter baby t-shirts.

Boundary Park only has a capacity of 10,638 with Liverpool receiving an allocation of 2,761. In May 2008, the club demolished the Broadway Stand as part of a 1st move to redevelop the stadium. However, as the financial crisis took hold in August/Sept 2008, the club could not secure a bank loan to redevelop this one stand - never mind the rest of the ground but they wanted to erect a temporary stand for this game but they needed to give 28 days notice plus the costs weren't making it economical enough.

If you are 30 or over, have a look at this picture and see who you recognise. Unfortunately I couldnt get a better quality picture. You might be surprised at some of the names - answer is in the spoiler

Alas, Ian Marshall never made the 13 man match day squad when they got beaten by Forest that day.

The payment from the FA for this round is £90,000 for the team that gets through but because the game is on TV, both teams get £135,850 which is massive for Oldham. For beating Forest they got £67,500 in Rd 3 and if they lost Rd 4 they would get nothing except gate receipts. However now that they are on TV, they get a guaranteed £135,850 even if they win, draw or lose. There are 2 non-league teams in this round that are not on TV and if they lose, they only get a portion of the gate receipts so it was a big loss for them not to get a TV game and the guaranteed revenue of £135,850.

- We've a week until this game and then a week until Arsenal so we have scope to play Suarez and Sturridge to progress their understanding

- Borini could do with a game and can come in off the left.

- Lucas can still do with games.

Loving your work, sir.

Good to know - when it becomes boring or tedious, I'll give it up.

You probably wont believe me but I know that. I meant Robinson, you might believe me as I made the mistake at Left Back - just get mixed up with Robinson and Flanagan.

Those stats dont include yesterdays game against Coventry - they lost 2-1.

They were losing 1-0 and scored an 89th min equaliser ..... only to concede a stoppage time goal.

So, in the past 7 league games, they have conceded 2 goals in 6 of those matches and 4 in the other. W0 D1 L6.

We really can't be slipping up here - confidence must be on the floor.

remember that 1-1 with the own goal in the last minute, was that them?

Jimmy Hill blamed the ballboy, iirc, for giving it to us too quick

Jesus, you've brought back a childhood memory with that. Dont think it was Oldham. Was it 1990 or 1991 ? Something tells me the teams name started with a B.

I think I was 10 and was sh!((!ng myself and the embaressment of going into school. Ball went out for a throw and an eager kid threw it to perhaps an iidol of his. We took it ,crossed it and sneaked it in at the back post.

Blackburn wasn't it?

I remember that too! Ball boy ran to throw it back to Houghton. Always remember MOTD blaming it on the kid for being to eager!

Can't remember if was Oldham though. Just that it was away to a lower league team in the cup.

It was Blackburn Rovers. Bobby Mimms had just joined them, I remember that because Grandstand had done a piece on him that morning ahead of the game - before that section was even called Football Focus as far as I remember.

It was the run that ended with the 3 games against Everton and Kenny's leaving.
