Rory Delap may be a thing of the past but this is gonna be a really tough test for us.

Stoke haven't lost at home and their record this season at the Brittania is impressive;

Played 8, won 4, drew 4, lost 0 with only 3 goals and 1 of those was an o.g. they scored for Everton. The only 2 opposition players to score there are Javi Garcia for City and Cisse for Newcastle. In fact, they haven't lost there for 15 games (February) - W8, D7, L0.

Our away record is P8, W2, D4, L2 - F 13, A 13.

That said, the bookies pitch us as favourites at 13/10 and Stoke are 19/10.

The match at Anfield this season was 0-0 with Stoke sharing out the fouls around the team with a few of theirs booked. It seemed like we had a free kick every 5 mins.

Pulis seems to play Jones ahead of Crouch these past few games. Whilst it can be a 4-4-2 with Walters joining Jones, he can drop Walters back to RM and let Charlie Adam play off the main striker (be it Jones or Crouch). Adam is likely to come back in to the side after he was allowed miss the Spurs game for his fathers funeral.

Begovic

Cameron Huth Shawcross Shotton

Walters Nzonzi Whelan Etherington

Adam

Jones

Other players that could come in are Palacios, Whitehead or Crouch.

I can see us going 3-5-3 for this game;

Reina

Johnson Skrtel Coates Agger Enrique

Gerrard Lucas Shelvey

Suarez Sterling

The only thing that doesnt sit easy with me is that this is the midfield that started against Fulham.

Will take one hell of a performance to get a win there, especially v 14 men. Pulis is obviously well on to the fact we dont get any decisions from refs aswell.

Neither do Stoke these days. Pulis has been moaning in the press about the fact that the refs have cottoned on to their deliberate strategies of persistent fouling and trying cons on set pieces.

Yep. We still get nothing v them though.

Due a win in the league here for sure.

I'd start the same team with Sterling in for Suso, got a feeling Allen will be back in too though.

Really big game for us, got some making up to do after the Villa game.

is it true that stoke can change the dimensions of the pitch ? Think they did the same thing when we met them in the league cup match last season .

Anyone can if they want to, within certain max and min parameters.

But yeah, they've narrowed the pitch at times for games against us I think.

I think we will get our first penalty of the season there , just tell the lads to not over egg it and its a cert. ffs they think its American football with blockers etc, the boss should be having a quiet word with the ref beforehand

Urgh. A proven disgrace in a game v Stoke before, turned down a stonewaller, added 4 mins stoppage time which Stoke wasted about 2 and a half minutes of by hacking and feigning injury and give us an extra 6 f***ing seconds the c***. 4 minutes was shocking in itself, Sorenson had wasted about 20 mins of the second half just by himself. Pulis was kissing his a*** after that game aswell "Oh Howard was so strong and dreamy, standing up the crowd"

You cant leave Sterling out left against Jon Walters - Enrique has to play there.

I see merit in the 3-5-2 and if he wants to go Gerrard / Suarez then I can buy into that as well, but if we go 3-5-2 then Sterling plays as 1 of the 2 rather than wide I would contend. Leaving him on the bench does give a good option off the bench with 25-30mins to go.

Agree can't believe I forgot about enrique lol.But I also think we need the creativity of suso although how he fits in the formation I don't know.

At the moment it would be more of a hindrance to us if they widened it.
