How often do people drink? How have your habits towards the drink changed over the years, with maturing, getting married, having kids/jobs etc...?

I rarely drink these days but when I look back, I think the frequency and amounts must add up to just crazy levels. I can easily go along to a function or do without having a drop, that simply wasn't a possibility years gone. There was never a weekend or mid-week I didn't go for a proper booze-up or have a bottle of wine or partake in drinking of some description - it was just something that had to happen. Just wondering what people's attitudes are these days and how they view a drink. Reward? Pick-me-up?

I see all these '12 pubs' xmas do's going on and think if I had 12 pints now I'd be on a slab, but way back when that was just getting the party started!!
