i made the mistake of listening to saturday's 606 yesterday, or at least started to. robbie savage, incapable of coherent speech, unable to read out even a show-related hashtag, analysis and insight consists of shouting 'were you a professional footballer?' at callers. it's genuinely pathetic is radio five. such a waste.

I enjoyed that, thanks. He's gonna go back to bed and wake up about 2pm and have a vague memory of doing an interview but wont remember what he said.

Always great to start a week enjoying an alcoholic make a fool of themselves....

What did he say?

I can't access that link in work?

Presenter said they had received tweets suggesting players are partly to blame for celebrating in front of opposition fans. Paddy misheard the question and thought he said fans shouldn't celebrate goals being scored and basically went ballistic. The two presenters tried to tell him what the question actually was but Paddy was having none of it and it went rapidly downhill for him.

Radio 5 live is embarrassing

It shouldn't receive licence payers money. Its just Talksport now

Fair point.

You would hope, at least, that there is now a clear directive that Crerand is never put on air again.

100%, a real shame. The actual match commentaries are better than most though.

Further to what Billy Dane said, when he was told they had received tweets and texts, Crerrand started shouting - "How many people have contacted you" - the presenter said he didnt have the exact figures to hand and Crerrard ripped him for not having the facts to back up his statements on air - the presenter tried to get Crerrand to actually make a comment on subject but Crerrand continued with his ridiculous position "I'm not answering your question until you tell me how many people have texted you"

"Shid yyou acschually schwatch the shmatch?"

My favourite is 4mins 40secs in when he cant actually talk :lol:/>

"Derby match is a little bit different from a normal match obviously ddddd why eeeeee somone would throw something at Rio Ferdinand........."

Ferdinand appeared to be hit by a coin following Robin van Persie's late goal at the Etihad Stadium and Manchester City goalkeeper Joe Hart also had to prevent a supporter from confronting the United defender.

It was put to Crerand during an interview on BBC Five Live that listeners had called and texted the show to suggest that players should tone down their celebrations in front of opposition fans, but Crerand was disgusted by the insinuation that Ferdinand had any responsibility for the incident and repeatedly challenged the station to say how many people had blamed Ferdinand.

"Who said that? That is ridiculous," Crerand said. "What planet do they live on? That is absolute garbage. How many people have phoned you up? One, two, three? How many? Why make a statement like that if you haven't got (the number of listeners) to hand...if you haven't got the evidence?"

Asked to respond to the suggestion that Ferdinand could have provoked the attacks, Crerand added: "I think the point is absolutely ludicrous."

At one point Crerand asked interviewer Chris Warburton: "Is this a publicity stunt? Ask me a sensible question and don't talk stupid, asking me daft questions about whether fans should celebrate or not."

Warburton's co-presenter Rachel Burden interjected to suggest to Crerand that there may have been a misunderstanding of the question that had been asked.

Crerand demanded again to know how many people had contacted the show.

"How many texts? A million? Half a million? A hundred thousand?"

After Burden asked Crerand a couple of questions, he said: "Why have you changed commentators, why have you come on all of a sudden?"

Crerand was told it was standard for both presenters to contribute questions and Warburton said: "Don't worry, I haven't run scared Paddy."

Talksport is better than five live now. Five live had Ron Atkinson on commenting on the Manc derby. It suggests a management contemptuous of its own listeners.

Worried about racism in football? Want an intelligent response the day after a player has been potentially racially abused by a fan? Get the man who said off air,' that's what you call one lazy f***ing n****r' .
