f*** it, not started one of these in an age and I think Brendan has got some decisions to make with the line up...

I think he'll go with:

Reina

Wisdom - Srktel - Agger - Johnson

Allen - Henderson

Gerrard

Sterling Suarez - Enrique

A win here would be great in our rise up the league and to continue our mini run.

I really like Assaidi and would play him if Wisdom doesnt make it with Johnson and Jose full backs although I'm really looking forward to seeing more of the 'Bale Experiment' with Jose.

On performances alone, rather than name or status, does Gerrard merit his place?

No.

Who would you pick in the midfield three?

Henderson has to start this for me, his energy will go a long way to combat Michu.

yep. need to get Henderson in there, stop Michu playing and we will effectively stop Swansea. nned to beat these.

I wasnt necessarily saying i wouldnt pick him, was just asking to see what other people thought.

But in terms of actual output, Shelvey is more worthy of that place at the moment.

No. I hate criticising him, I really do but he's looked off the pace, lethargic and he gives the ball away so often now it's untrue.

I'd personally play Jonjo at the front of that midfield 3 and drop Stevie to the bench.

Personally, I wouldn't pick Stevie in the midfield, I would play him as one of the front three tho.

Pep

Glen Skrtel Agger Jose

Henderson Sahin

Allen

Stevie Suarez Sterling

I am probably miles off on this but I don't think BR is in a confident enough position to handle any flack that came his way from dropping Stevie. Shouldn't be a reason not to, just think it has to be considered.

Haven't won a game after a EL game midweek all season.

This has draw written all over it, no doubt we'll convince ourselves that is good enough.

Yep, i'd like to see that.

Agree again, it's easy for me to suggest that he might not be worthy of his place in the team but it's a massively difficult decision for any manager to make, let alone a new/young manager who is still trying to prove himself in some people's eyes.

That's factually correct, but let's put it into context....

After Hearts (1):

Man City (h) - The best side in the league and but for a dire error at the end, we'd have won.

After Hearts (2):

Arsenal (h) - Not exactly a weak side, but yeah, we were poor.

After Young Boys (1):

Man Utd (h) - Again a hard game and barring refereeing cheating, we'd have won.

After Udinese:

Stoke (h) - Poor game from us, typical kind of situation we struggle in.

After Anzhi (1):

Everton (a) - Derby game away, aside from more refereeing/linesman buffoonery, we'd have won.

After Anzhi (2):

Chelsea (a) - Hard game, played very well second half, deserved to draw, could easily have won.

I'd like to see Gerrard starting wide of the front 3, no place for Sahin in my starting XI.

-------------------Reina

Johnson - Skrtel - Agger - Enrique

------------Allen - Henderson

--------------------Suso

--------Gerrard - Suarez - Sterling

That's a young midfield though with Gerrard moved out of it.

Still think we need a goalscoring midfielder, a really top one, we havent had one of those since Gerrard in 08/09.

Isco.

I'd go with

Reina

Johnson-Skrtel-Agger-Enrique

Allen-Henderson

Suso

Gerrard-Suarez-Sterling

Gerrard was only really in the game last night thanks to Suso who kept servicing the ball to him in space he could attack.

Possibly swap Suso for one of Sahin/Shelvey. But I think I'd rather opt for one of them to sub for him as I think we'll need more graft in the latter stages of the match.

Would ideally continue to play Enrique further forward, but we have no fullbacks to cover for him.

edit: f*** off, richwilks.

I hate Swansea. I have family there and you would think that they are Barca-f***ing-lona. They genuinely think they are a bigger club than us. Swansea.

Nah they can't really can they, not even them like.

We lead in 3 of them, but failed to see it out. Specially the everton one, I know it was a dreadful decision, but we were 2-0 up against them, it shouldn't be coming down to a bent lino. Blaming him glosses over our failings that day.

I agree to a point, but the fact is, even for our failings, we didnt actually fail to do enough to win the game - we did enough - the linesman's failure was the fundamental difference.

They do Vic, it amazes me. They believe that Rodgers and Allen took a massive step down by leaving to join us.

They may of course be pretending in order to wind me up but I honestly don't think they are that smart.

I've a cold so I kinda snorted. It makes me wish I was in touch with mates from Port Talbot so I could shout their idiocy at them from a distance.

If Wisdom is out then I'd bring in Robinson. I remain sceptical about Enrique as a left-winger but he deserves another go after the 2nd half against Wigan:

Reina

Johnson Skrtel Agger Robinson

Henderson Allen Gerrard

Sterling Suarez Enrique

Robinson is playing for U-21's today, bit much to ask him to do 2 in 3 days.

Ok. Then I'd move Enrique back and probably bring in Suso.

I think Suso should be utilised in the last third of games until he builds himself up a bit, his quality seems to drop after half time when he starts games so I'd rather he was brought on against tiring players than start games atm.
