goodrobotusses Posted October 3, 2012 Posted October 3, 2012 FourFourTwo are doing a feature on the best ever goal of every club in the top four divisions and the SPL and are looking for submissions from fans. I help them out sometimes so am just passing this on if anyone's interested in making a nomination: http://fourfourtwo.com/blogs/fourfourtwoview/archive/2012/09/26/name-your-club-s-best-goal-ever.aspx It's purely based on how good the goal was in terms of skill/technique/aesthetics, rather than how important it was. You can contact the guys putting it together at contact@fourfourtwo.com (use subject "Best Goal Liverpool") or @FourFourTwo via Twitter (using the hashtag #ourbestgoal). Cheers.
Ant Posted October 3, 2012 Posted October 3, 2012 Riise v United was just the ultimate it power and accuracy
Bigal Posted October 3, 2012 Posted October 3, 2012 Terry Mac V spursGerrard V Villa in 2001 at villa park.
Redray Posted October 3, 2012 Posted October 3, 2012 (edited) Molby's v Utd in 1985. The rare footage one. yeah that one. ^ Edited October 3, 2012 by Redray
Cobs Posted October 3, 2012 Posted October 3, 2012 Terry Mac V spurs which one - the 7-0 or the volley @ WHL? - they're both up there StevieG v WHU in the Cup Final though - Roy Race meets Hot Shot Hamish
matty Posted October 3, 2012 Posted October 3, 2012 Gerrard v West Ham Cup Final equaliser. I know it was also important, but the trajectory of that ball was the exact equal of the parabola depicted in Masaccio's fresco in the Brancacci chapel of 1427.
Swan Red Posted October 3, 2012 Posted October 3, 2012 (edited) which one - the 7-0 or the volley @ WHL? - they're both up there StevieG v WHU in the Cup Final though - Roy Race meets Hot Shot Hamish I'd have the header in the 7-0. That cup final goal was special. Edited October 3, 2012 by Swan Red wtf was I on about
Stevie H Posted October 3, 2012 Posted October 3, 2012 Terry Mac V spurs close the thread yep. looked choreographed. three players, three touches, 120 yards or something ridiculous. and not even an easy header at the end of it.
Mike Posted October 3, 2012 Posted October 3, 2012 It's Terry Mac v Spurs, firstly for the beauty of the goal but also because it was our 7th in the game.
Nerik Posted October 3, 2012 Posted October 3, 2012 One that I have always loved was Fowler's vs Villa after he nutmegged Staunton and rifled it in from outside the box. Commentator goes something like "Liverpool really on soooooooooooooooooooooooooooong!"
Cobs Posted October 3, 2012 Posted October 3, 2012 weirdly this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Obblrm53ITU was Goal of the Season that (terry mac) year
Stevie H Posted October 3, 2012 Posted October 3, 2012 weirdly this was Goal of the Season that (terry mac) year first touch on that though. on that quagmire of a pitch. like he was wearing carpet slippers.
Cobs Posted October 3, 2012 Posted October 3, 2012 Aldridge in the 88 semi final was a thing of beauty too - perfect example of the artistry of the Beardsley, Barnes & Aldo combo first touch on that though. on that quagmire of a pitch. like he was wearing carpet slippers. that's nothing - check this @ 2.20 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gvxut2vM3S0
Nerik Posted October 3, 2012 Posted October 3, 2012 Fowler one is here. With some commentating from on his bog, not the one usually associated with this clip
Bigal Posted October 3, 2012 Posted October 3, 2012 which one - the 7-0 or the volley @ WHL? - they're both up there StevieG v WHU in the Cup Final though - Roy Race meets Hot Shot Hamish The goal in the 7-0 game
Raj Posted October 3, 2012 Posted October 3, 2012 Aldridge in the 88 semi final was a thing of beauty too - perfect example of the artistry of the Beardsley, Barnes & Aldo combo Was just about to say that. Amazing goal, The one two, the reverse pass, the cross and the volley were all a thing of beauty
John am Rhein Posted October 3, 2012 Posted October 3, 2012 was Goal of the Season that (terry mac) year McDermott's was on ITV
Bigal Posted October 3, 2012 Posted October 3, 2012 Voronin rolling the ball in for the 4th v Blackburn at home, when Riise was desperate to score but couldnt work it on to his left. that is up there
goodrobotusses Posted October 3, 2012 Author Posted October 3, 2012 Molby's v Utd in 1985. The rare footage one. yeah that one. ^I mentioned Molby's United goal to the production editor and apparently there's going to be a section in the piece about great lost goals, among which this will be featured.
Mike Posted October 3, 2012 Posted October 3, 2012 Aldridge in the 88 semi final was a thing of beauty too - perfect example of the artistry of the Beardsley, Barnes & Aldo combo that's nothing - check this @ 2.20 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gvxut2vM3S0 Such beautiful timing.
StevieC Posted October 3, 2012 Posted October 3, 2012 For aesthetics a fair few Barnes goals shouldnbe there. He made everything look so smooth and easy. Gliding through QPR's defence, bamboozling Brentford and even that overhead kick vs Blackburn when he was getting on a bit.
