abc Posted August 26, 2012 Posted August 26, 2012 To put in the performance he did against the champions, on his full debut in the league, is worthy of praise. I'm sure Rodgers will look after him and use him in the right way, but genuinely excited about his prospects. Not wanting to put any players down but there are some senior members of the squad who could learn from his courage, determination and confidence. A genuine threat on the flanks with pace and ability to carry the ball, and beat a man - something we've not had for as long as I can remember. Big match temperament will not be one of his weaknesses, if today is any indication of his future development.
stressederic Posted August 27, 2012 Posted August 27, 2012 Seems that the manager is keen to keep him in line at times!
RafaShanks Posted August 27, 2012 Posted August 27, 2012 Fecking hell. Rodgers doesn't feck about does he? Reminded me of the interview where it looked like he was gonna nut the bloke for sticking the microphone to close to him.

Reminded me of the interview where it looked like he was gonna nut the bloke for sticking the microphone to close to him. Wasn't it at start of US tour where Rodgers was saying Sterling was still too young to be expected to figure in first team and maybe would benefit from being sent out on loan? He must have really shone in training since to be given his full debut just a few weeks later against City and the kid put in a great performance, the sign of plenty more to come hopefully. Rodgers seems very assured and authoritative in that clip too, 'tis all looking good.
Sir Tokyo Sexwale Posted August 27, 2012 Posted August 27, 2012 Seems that the manager is keen to keep him in line at times! Shanklyesque, he owns those f*****s
Zoob Posted August 27, 2012 Posted August 27, 2012 I do think he's got fantastic potential - speed, good technique, and looks like he has a good football brain already... but also weary - so easy for youngsters to come in, and they have no expectations and therefore shine... then the hype takes over, and they start going backwards... still think he has so much more quality than any other youngster we've seen coming through in recent years though.
Leo No.8 Posted August 27, 2012 Posted August 27, 2012 Sterling worked his backside off defensively yesterday, that's the difference. Was amazed he lasted the full 90 but he did it in style and still looked dangerous at the end - bet he's feeling it today! Love the Rodgers clip, he's got some charisma hasn't he?
honourablegeorge Posted August 27, 2012 Posted August 27, 2012 I think Sterling needs to be loaned out or dropped, to be honest. He's less than half my age and looking at him play makes me feel really old. He's also making me doubt that I'll ever make it as a pro.
Nerik Posted August 27, 2012 Posted August 27, 2012 Who is the kid that Rodgers says has the right attitude in that clip?
honourablegeorge Posted August 27, 2012 Posted August 27, 2012 Who is the kid that Rodgers says has the right attitude in that clip? Kelly, I thought.
Swan Red Posted August 27, 2012 Posted August 27, 2012 I haven't watched it but was it reported as being Morgan?
Ombudsam Posted August 27, 2012 Posted August 27, 2012 I am never going to say "steady" to Brendan Rodgers. This is because he may kill me.
Tommy Cockles Posted August 27, 2012 Posted August 27, 2012 When is this sucker being shown? I'm all over it already.
Ant Posted August 27, 2012 Posted August 27, 2012 He was knackered after an hour and Rodgers told him to hang fire. My biggest fear is that it looks like our best attacking outlay is a 17 Year old midget.
Barnesy_10 Posted August 27, 2012 Posted August 27, 2012 Looked quality.... I really like the kid. Bearing in mind he played a major part in a big occasion a few days ago he did really well up against such strength for prolonged periods. I hope Downing actually realised that he's not granted a start from now on... Anyway I spoke to my Manc mate who said over on their forums they have started to praise him and acknowledge his quality too... Which is a rarity, they tend to ignore quality due to the shirt they wear.... Some good comments here:http://www.redcafe.net/f9/raheem-sterling-350726/index2.html

Ed the Wool Posted August 27, 2012 Posted August 27, 2012 Shanklyesque, he owns those f*****s Indeed. After yesterday and seeing that, he looks the business. Sterling very exciting prospect
Leo No.8 Posted August 27, 2012 Posted August 27, 2012 (edited) My biggest fear is that it looks like our best attacking outlay is a 17 Year old midget. What a silly comment. Like Barcelona's biggest fear was their best attacking outlay was a 17 year old midget when Messi was that age? What relevance is his size if he's talented? And our best 'attacking outlay' is still clearly Suarez anyway. Hopefully Sterling can help focus some attention away from him. Edited August 27, 2012 by Leo No.8
Nerik Posted August 27, 2012 Posted August 27, 2012 Well Barca do have 6ft 4 giants like Iniesta and Fabregas to make up for their midget.
Cunny Posted August 27, 2012 Posted August 27, 2012 I tweeted yesterday that I'm still to be convinced by him.He has pace but I'm not sure he has much else.He played well yesterday but faded a bit second half. He'll surprise a few defenders this season but needs to develop more tricks to not rely on just pace to beat his man.Defenders will wise up to him. Also, his crossing/final ball really needs work, this may come in time as he gets older.

I just don't want to burden him
