Judging by his comments after the game, I think Rodgers always had a plan to try Downing at left back last night.

Carra just doesn't fit the way Rodgers wants to play, his possession retention is appalling. His first touch yesterday was an 80 yard clearance straight to their keeper. Yesterday was perfect to bring Coates into try him out, if they don't trust him he should be shipped out and replaced with someone they do trust.

 

Carra looked awkward in possession last night.

Hopefully, Carra starting instead of Coates last night indicates Coates will start against city.
