Kahnee Posted August 15, 2012 Posted August 15, 2012 First have been handed the West Coast franchise from Virgin after bidding some £5.5bn apparently. According to the lovely Ms Villiers, this is a good deal for the tax payer, and the fact First offered no assurances on job levels etc is none of the Government's business. Virgin have suggested this is an unsustainable amount to bid for the line, but Villiers says there are bonds and securities in place to ensure nothing goes t***-up. So that's OK then. Apparently a few other franchises are coming up for grabs soon, should be fun
