I think he'll always go down as a warmly remembered popular player, although I wouldn't go as far as legend myself - it's a strong word for me.

Think it'd be different had we won in Athens and/or 08/09?

Gerrard and Sami are the only true legends we've had in the last 15/20 years in my opinion.

The last before them was probably Barnes.

Which might be harsh on people like Fowler, Alonso and a couple of others but is true in my opinion.

Though suppose the word 'legend' means different things to different people.

not sure mate. Legend is difficult to quantify I think. It would have helped but I don't think he is the same quality as Gerrard, Barnes, Rush, Dalglish etc and to me that is important. Sami has a chance though I think. Top quality, was here a long time and won a lot of trophies

What about Carra?

I'd say Carra has played a bigger part in the history of Liverpool Football Club (than Sami) and therefore he's (almost) automatically a Liverpool legend. Also, think of Istanbul.

As drvegapunk says, anyone who plays 700 games for LFC is a legend.

I know I dont even disagree I think the past couple of years and his ball distribution is clouding my judgement. It shouldnt though he should be in I just cant quite work out my reluctance

Yeah, terrible miss, of course he is.

Knew I'd do something like that - I almost forgot Sami too!

So, no legends other than Gerrard, Carra and Sami.

Plus the others I've forgotten, obviously.

Carra has played more games but Sami was the better player for me. Sami played no small part in us getting to Istanbul and winning the 5th European Cup and played a much greater role than Carra in the Treble Season.

To be honest, it was his signing that kick-started a revival of our fortunes.
