Ripley Posted July 23, 2012 Posted July 23, 2012 Good piece on United fan site. Ferguson guide to being a fam Thanks to David Conn for the link
johngibo YPC Posted July 23, 2012 Posted July 23, 2012 Compare and contrast with Rafa. You can also compare and contrast the relative fortunes of the teams, of course
Knox_Harrington Posted July 23, 2012 Posted July 23, 2012 You can also compare and contrast the relative fortunes of the teams, of courseIndeed. Benitez can be used on all sides here.
Ripley Posted July 23, 2012 Author Posted July 23, 2012 Struck by the sentence (though may be reading too deeply), "The world’s greatest living manager, now reduced to attacking supporters who care deeply about the club. It’s no way to maintain a legacy." Obviously arguable claim but avoids the usual, "Greatest British manager ever".
Cobs Posted July 23, 2012 Posted July 23, 2012 like the way in the middle of this quote " There have always been wee pockets of supporters who have their views… but I think the majority of the real fans will look at it realistically and say it’s not affecting the team.” they omitted the words 'and there's nothing wrong with that' after 'their views' - just to make him look more of a c*nt

Rarely, if ever, is that claim qualified as it should be: "greatest living club/domestic manager"
Sir Tokyo Sexwale Posted July 23, 2012 Posted July 23, 2012 Stoke have spent more net over the past 5 years - yeah, when you receive 80m for one player, Darlington have probably spent more net He spent a bucketload last summer - DeGea, Jones, Bebe , and others I can't be arsed to remember

The fact that they do have the manager that they do is papering over the cracks. Bebe didn't sign for them last summer for the record. The bought Young, De Gea & Jones and we can laugh but they lost the league on GD due to a 94th minute winner.

Cobs Posted July 23, 2012 Posted July 23, 2012 but in reality their days look numbered now, been reading stuff like that on Liverpool forums since Cantona left
sutty Posted July 23, 2012 Posted July 23, 2012 (edited) been reading stuff like that on Liverpool forums since Cantona left They aren't finished of course but when Ferguson goes it will be utterly critical. Edited July 23, 2012 by sutty
Bigal Posted July 23, 2012 Posted July 23, 2012 They aren't finished of course but when Ferguson goes it will be utterly critical. Yeah, I have enjoyed his "we have 18 year olds that can play, City don't have that" is this the same 18 year olds who sat on your bench while a right back played centre midfield and then you brought back a 38 year old?
Cobs Posted July 23, 2012 Posted July 23, 2012 They aren't finished of course but when Ferguson goes will be utterly critical. the fecker will still be there when he's 80 besides they'll just throw a bunch of money at Mourinho or Guardiola or whoever. They're the richest sports franchise in World!! They're not going to go away.

Cobs Posted July 23, 2012 Posted July 23, 2012 I think unless something fundamentally changes they'll struggle to do that with the Glazers though the debt is being reduced, their revenues are increasing, they still spend big money what we need is for a new bunch of Glazers to come in and do it all againto them
Ostrich Man Posted July 23, 2012 Posted July 23, 2012 is this the same 18 year olds who sat on your bench while a right back played centre midfield and then you brought back a 38 year old?3 of whom have now skidaddled to other clubs against our wishes.
Bigal Posted July 23, 2012 Posted July 23, 2012 3 of whom have now skidaddled to other clubs against our wishes. Pogba is one. who are the other 2 against your wishes?
Sir Tokyo Sexwale Posted July 23, 2012 Posted July 23, 2012 been reading stuff like that on Liverpool forums since Cantona leftaye, I've given up writing them off the fecker will still be there when he's 80 besides they'll just throw a bunch of money at Mourinho or Guardiola or whoever. They're the richest sports franchise in World!! They're not going to go away.Mourinho will only go somewhere where he has a blank chequbook
Knox_Harrington Posted July 23, 2012 Posted July 23, 2012 I'm not writing them off but they are one bad season or bad injury crisis away from being in real trouble because of what Sutty says.
Cobs Posted July 23, 2012 Posted July 23, 2012 I'm not writing them off but they are one bad season or bad injury crisis away from being in real trouble because of what Sutty says. nonsense
Stevie H Posted July 23, 2012 Posted July 23, 2012 think it's a ferguson aura/fear thing myself. once his arrogance and power are gone they will just suddenly seem more beatable to all concerned.
Sir Tokyo Sexwale Posted July 23, 2012 Posted July 23, 2012 quite probably, we had a similar "you've already beaten them before you start" aura for years. Some teams just turn up beaten
