BUT this summer is a massive opportunity to place us as the dominant force in English football for several years to come.

Agger, Reina & Sissoko in 2005. Only Elliott was any good from 2019 (six years!!). 2020 was a bit better with Tsimikas, Thiago & Jota.

The next couple of windows need to set up us for the next few years. Capitalise on the title.

The best thing they’ve done is not building a new stadium. Imagine leaving Anfield. The place just connects us from start to finish.

I was amazed at how many were up for a new stadium.  I don't know if it came mainly from those who rarely go to Anfield.

Think it was more that people were up for a much bigger capacity and it was difficult to see how you'd do that with Anfield - credit to them for being able to. Shame it's virtually impossible to expand the Kop now though

Stay put FSG!

I wonder if there's ever a window of opportunity again.  Remember asking this in here once and someone said the opportunity will never be repeated.  It really is a shame.

Think there’s two barriers - firstly the road, both rerouting it and number of houses on the other side which would need to be demolished or impacted by the size of it. Secondly the club would be on the hook for major infrastructure improvements if the capacity goes over what it is now.

You say that but Everton seem to have cracked on without bothering. Just do it and then scream and cry at Steve Rotheram if it goes t*** up.

They’d wanna start doing the pay offs to whoever to enlarge the Kop. Though it looked as impressive as ever after Spurs.

Course it is.

Be good if it gets the rest of the stadium done though. That way they're not a completely useless band of soul suckers.

They're a lot of things but they are capable money makers. The worry now is Rotherham and political class. Also greedy but not very capable of actually getting things done that make a difference.

Trump brings massive uncertainty to the economy so it’s probably a terrible time to try and sell. Either way if they invest properly this summer that’s great.

I'd argue that it's more positive than you've said there. Solanke was ultimately shown to be a good player and we made a huge profit on him. Van Den Berg and presumably Doak probably the same. Minamino made a very positive contribution and was sold for a good  profit. Carvalho was a massive profit. Shaq was a good player for us too, Klavan too.

Some of them were bad timings, some of them were hamstrung because of their injury records, but actual duds there are pretty few and far between. Keita, Nunez, Ings, Karius and Benteke are the only all out duds and even Darwin has scored important goals.
