RBM Posted June 25, 2012 Posted June 25, 2012 Does anybody follow relatively small teams, from obscure or less fashionable leagues around the world or live nearby to one? I follow Fredrikstad from Norway We should do round ups of all the teams that we follow and post updates of how they're getting on, or not.
Raj Posted June 25, 2012 Posted June 25, 2012 Southend. Used to go and watch them on Friday nights at Roots Hall
drdooom Posted June 25, 2012 Posted June 25, 2012 IFK Mariehamn, local team in the finnish league. It's the kind of team where a two year contract is a long term one and half the squad is replaced every season. Most seasons we're bottom to mid table, two seasons ago we were relegated when our final game ended but late results in other games saved us. This season we're in third after a third of the season's been played (it's played in the summer up here)! Playing against KuPS Kuopio tonight, 0-0 after 55 minutes. They've been rubbish this season so we want, nay demand, the 3 points.
RBM Posted June 25, 2012 Author Posted June 25, 2012 Manchester United. Good for you Sam Rangers should count soon
Frosty Jack Posted June 25, 2012 Posted June 25, 2012 Guarani, Brazil Serie B, though the only team outside major cities to have ever won the Serie A title.
Swipe Posted June 25, 2012 Posted June 25, 2012 Good for you Sam Rangers should count soon Scottish lower league games at Ibrox is gonna be surreal.
Nebraska Red Posted June 25, 2012 Posted June 25, 2012 Trabzonspor in Turkey was a team I followed for years, as well as the team from Fuengirola after watching them on trips to the Costa del Sol. These days, I quite enjoy watching some of the obscure Argentine teams that played River Plate this past season. They played some team called Brown this past weekend.
Sir Tokyo Sexwale Posted June 25, 2012 Posted June 25, 2012 There's a Liverpool in Uruguay - we should support them too
RBM Posted June 25, 2012 Author Posted June 25, 2012 (edited) There's a Liverpool in Uruguay - we should support them too Definitely, a contingent of supporters should go over there to watch them Scottish lower league games at Ibrox is gonna be surreal. Seeing 6 farmers, a highland terrier, 3 shetland ponies and an Aberdeen Angus in the away end is going to be weird Edited June 25, 2012 by Rushiesbushymoustache
Nebraska Red Posted June 25, 2012 Posted June 25, 2012 Seeing 6 farmers, a highland terrier, 3 shetland ponied and an Aberdeen Angus in the away end is going to be weird no sheep? what the hell are the 6 farmers going to do for 90 minutes?
oakie bob Posted June 25, 2012 Posted June 25, 2012 Since I left Liverpool, always keep an eye out for Marine scores and as I used to play for Formby, them as well
FakeNewsBear Posted June 25, 2012 Posted June 25, 2012 Rushden and diamonds jonesy and i even went to watch them v chester a few years ago :s
Rex Ham Posted June 25, 2012 Posted June 25, 2012 Caernarfon Town and Leyton Orient are the scores I look out for, purely cos I lived in both places. Not exactly romantic like but...
Crazy Horse Posted June 25, 2012 Posted June 25, 2012 In high school we all picked teams from the lower divisions to follow - I picked Darlington (because of Bruce Springsteen), who did really well at that time under Brian Little before it all went to hell. I also follow Glenavon in the Irish League.
SkippyjonJones Posted June 25, 2012 Posted June 25, 2012 Colchester - I lived there when they were non league for a couple of years and a few pints and getting loud at the game on a friday night was a great way to start the weekend.Driving to anfield with a hangover the next day wasn't so much fun.
Duncan Disorderly Posted June 25, 2012 Posted June 25, 2012 I also follow Glenavon in the Irish League.Scumbag!
Billy Talbot Posted June 26, 2012 Posted June 26, 2012 My Dad somehow got me into looking out for Clydebank's results. Mostly by asking me "how did Clydebank get on" or some such. So I got used to looking out for their results on final score, but since they went bust in 2002/3 they're not on the vidiprinter or in the Scottish League so get no mention. They started up again so I must try harder. Oh, and Marine, but then I'm Waterloo / Crosby so that's quite natural.
Stevie H Posted June 26, 2012 Posted June 26, 2012 F.C. St Pauliyep, love 'em. also follow fc chiang mai since living here and go to watch them when i can. 40baht entrance fee, ice cold cans of beer sold outside to take into the stadium 30baht a can. free carrier bag full of ice if you buy six or more. standard of football is truly poor but it's a fun atmosphere.
kop205 Posted June 26, 2012 Posted June 26, 2012 There is a team in Namibia called Okahandja Liverpool. Can't say I follow them but did notice it when I was out there a few yars back.
