My Dad

[New York Red]

I can't believe he is gone. Died Friday morning. I love him so much. My poor Mam is gutted. Married 64 years to him.

 

He was such a character. Everyone who met him loved him. He lied about his age to get in the Navy and worked the North Atlantic convoys. Was blinded in one eye, had the fingers cut off his right hand, was stabbed and had loads of other bad injuries. Saw the deaths of two of his children. Yet, he always had a good word for everyone and would give you the shirt off hiss back. Loved a few pints, his rugby, his boxing, and his Liverpool FC.

 

I rushed over from the States when he took a turn on Thursday evening but got to the hospital a few hours too late. I'm gutted beyond words. He was a great Dad, husband, and human being. If you have a chance today, tell your Dads that you love them. I wish I could right now.
