Starts tomorrow. Hopefully replicate last year when i tipped 3 winners and 2 long priced each way shots on the first day.

2.30 Queen Anne Stakes

And we kick off with 1-6 shot Frankel, who should win on all known form, although he only just prevailed last year at the meeting. Strong Suit has a live each way chance.

3.05 King's Stand

A sprint that i have little interest in, although Ortensia, getting three pounds from the other principals, should go very close.

3.45 St James Palace Stakes

A cracking renewal, with several very good horses in top form, but i've sided with Lucayan each way. I backed Power to win last year but Lucayan is likely to be three or four times the price of the O'Brien runner and could have improved past him.

4.25 Coventry Stakes

My favourite race on the first day, having backed the winner 7 times in the last decade. Dawn Approach is favourite, but i'm siding with Sir Prancealot, who reminds me of Strong Suit who won this race a couple of years ago. A high cruising speed with a turn of foot that should see off the Irish challengers in the final furlong.

5.00 Ascot Stakes

A race where the vast majority of horses have never run close to this distance before. One who has and should at least place at 20-1 is Cosmo De Medici, although i have a slight concern about the jockey's record at Ascot.

5.35 Windsor Castle Stakes

Some very quick 2 year olds here, but the Hannon yard should have another winner here with Lyric Ace, who i think has the best form and is still improving. A hot race, though.

I've also backed Mabait for the Royal Hunt Cup on Wednesday at 33-1 and bigger. The horse is running into form and was better than this a couple of years ago.
