Frosty Jack Posted May 14, 2012 Posted May 14, 2012 (edited) Has to be asked given the names being linked. This was supposed to be a poll btw. Not sure what happened to that. Mods is there any reason why the poll function is not visible? Edited May 13, 2012 by Niemeyer
Cooger Posted May 14, 2012 Posted May 14, 2012 No. He had his chance, six years, I think he was rightfully sacked at the time and have not changed that opinion. I hope we stick with Dalglish, but if we don't (if we don't I might consider not continue supporting us anymore - as I think the traditions and values of the club might have totally been lost) I would like to see a different manager given the job. Benitez had his chance and in six seasons we only had one title challenge. Given the players we had, it wasn;t good enough.
Frosty Jack Posted May 14, 2012 Author Posted May 14, 2012 In summary: rightfully sacked and replaced with Roy Hodgson who should've been given time?
Cooger Posted May 14, 2012 Posted May 14, 2012 In summary: rightfully sacked and replaced with Roy Hodgson who should've been given time? Sacked and was replaced by a manager who was not good enough and probably shouldn't have got the job in the first place.
Frosty Jack Posted May 14, 2012 Author Posted May 14, 2012 Sacked and was replaced by a manager who was not good enough and probably shouldn't have got the job in the first place. That's why you don't sack a manager unless you have a suitable replacement lined up.Which a fair few of us said at the time.
Nebraska Red Posted May 14, 2012 Posted May 14, 2012 No, as much as I think he could do a good job for us, the media circus that would surround him would be a massive problem for us next season. If we do a get a new manager, it has to be someone who can be a little more "amenable" to the media as well as being a great manager. We really cannot keep going on with the "us against them" mantra as we move forward.
Frosty Jack Posted May 14, 2012 Author Posted May 14, 2012 I'd rather whoever they are managed the team, let a real PR department manage the media.
épieur Posted May 14, 2012 Posted May 14, 2012 No. He'd be a candidate to consider, but I wouldn't favour him as such.

Nebraska Red Posted May 14, 2012 Posted May 14, 2012 Like Ferguson? he's not amenable, more like condescending or patronizing. actually, he's a rude and snotty get who should be slpapped with a bat on the hour.
Swipe Posted May 14, 2012 Posted May 14, 2012 he's not amenable, more like condescending or patronizing. actually, he's a rude and snotty get who should be slpapped with a bat on the hour. He's also won about 12 titles and terrifies the life out of the press. No point even trying to compare him to anyone else.

I worry about the mentality of some fans when being amenable with the media is high up the list of priorities. Isn't that why Roy got the job? It's about winning, the press can take a running jump.
Swipe Posted May 14, 2012 Posted May 14, 2012 (edited) And yet your the first to angrily post the s*** the press writes on here. They can be ignored. Not by the club though. Those days are gone. Anyway, yeah I'd love Rafa back if the position was available. Edited May 14, 2012 by Swipe

It's about winning, the press can take a running jump. The handling of the Suarez fiasco was botched beyond belief. We were hung out to dry by the media and the FA, yet we handled our responses like kids at times. An amenable manager is not at the top of the list, but it's pretty bloody close. Ferguson has earned the right to treat the media with disdain. Hodgson was the polar opposite of Kenny as he would throw anybody under the boss if it made him look good. Surely, there is a happy medium somewhere? As much as it is about winning, having the media on your side when things are not going so well is not a bad thing.
John am Rhein Posted May 14, 2012 Posted May 14, 2012 I'd certainly welcome him back. Is there a better option available/feasible? Can't think of one, tbh.
ltsharpe Posted May 14, 2012 Posted May 14, 2012 Me too. Me three, although I would make sure the contract stipulated what was required, football only, no politics,no loopholes!
Red Posted May 14, 2012 Posted May 14, 2012 Kenny's appointment was the proverbial 'no-brainer' at the time and I think if the situation arose where we needed a new manager in the summer, then Rafa' would be equally be the obvious and the safest option. I can't understand why we'd take such a major risk on someone other than Rafa' unless, the new candidate is equally as qualified (which is unlikely), or you truly believe Rafa' is no longer capable of turning us into a top club again.
