PaulLFC Posted May 2, 2012 Posted May 2, 2012 interesting viewing, Tom Werner got Liverpool and Boston around the same mark regarding average player wage. My link
Sion Posted May 2, 2012 Posted May 2, 2012 Not sure how accurate that average wage can be as it doesn't state what makes up a senior player.Does average wage for Arsenal include all the kids they have on high wages for example? Or if a club like Inter only has its kids on a few hundred euro a week but they are counted as seniors because they've made a first team appearance, then that will drastically bring the average down.
CarraLegend Posted May 2, 2012 Posted May 2, 2012 These things are s*** but it's obvious we arent getting the max out of what we are paying out and havent been for about 3 years now. Hopefully it's sorted soon.
PaulLFC Posted May 2, 2012 Author Posted May 2, 2012 its first team, as in the main squad of players so it wouldn't include youth players from the academies.

YNWAdownunder Posted May 3, 2012 Posted May 3, 2012 The difference is no one at Liverpool has earned theirs this season bar maybe Suarez
Tommy Cockles Posted May 3, 2012 Posted May 3, 2012 207 (203) Hokkaido Nippon Ham Fighters NPB £494,972 (£9,519) $816,803 ($15,708)
Epic Swindle Posted May 3, 2012 Posted May 3, 2012 Shows what we're up against really. I bet loads thought Barca didn't pay that much cos of all the homegrown lads but wages are often the main factor in keeping together a succesful side.
cymrococh Posted May 4, 2012 Posted May 4, 2012 This is the thing, people keep saying that FSG are reducing our wage bill as if it's a good thing.
Stevie H Posted May 4, 2012 Posted May 4, 2012 if this is accurate does it put paid to that longstanding thing about arsenal having a wage cap and paying a lot less than other top clubs?

Epic Swindle Posted May 4, 2012 Posted May 4, 2012 Probably some tidy bonuses in there as well, though. Remember reading somewhere that we had the biggest bonuses during our dominant era.
Cobs Posted May 4, 2012 Posted May 4, 2012 Remember reading somewhere that we had the biggest bonuses during our dominant era.No-one else ever had to pay out!
drvegapunk Posted May 4, 2012 Posted May 4, 2012 Average wage is pretty useless, especially when comparing different sports. Total wage bill is more importnant. ESPN has the same info with the total wages here: http://espn.go.com/espn/story/_/id/7850531/espn-magazine-sportingintelligence-global-salary-survey-espn-magazine It shows we have a wage bill of $130m, while arsenal are $132m, United are $138m and the red sox are $173m. For our wage bill we are underperforming considerably in the PL hence the need to trim the fat, as Spurs wages are $95m, while Fulham, Everton & Sunderland are $60-59m.
Rimbeux Posted May 4, 2012 Posted May 4, 2012 This is the thing, people keep saying that FSG are reducing our wage bill as if it's a good thing. Wages increased £14 million last year. So much fail.Yep, thick end of 135m all in
PhilM Posted May 4, 2012 Posted May 4, 2012 Doesn't this wage bill include the likes of Joe Cole, Jovanovic etc...?
Rimbeux Posted May 4, 2012 Posted May 4, 2012 Doesn't this wage bill include the likes of Joe Cole, Jovanovic etc...?It's what we pay people under contract, as loan players and surplus players are an ongoing fact of life, not a short term exception, don't see the point in trying to annexe them
PhilM Posted May 4, 2012 Posted May 4, 2012 Yes, but my point is that many of these players are no longer at the club or shortly to be gone, so while they look bad on this year's accounts, chances are that they won't appear on next years.
Maldini Posted May 4, 2012 Posted May 4, 2012 Wages increased £14 million last year. So much fail. That's for the season FSG came in though isn't it?
Raj Posted May 4, 2012 Posted May 4, 2012 if this is accurate does it put paid to that longstanding thing about arsenal having a wage cap and paying a lot less than other top clubs? They do have a wage cap on basic salaryIts the add ons for appearances, etc which are huge
Rimbeux Posted May 4, 2012 Posted May 4, 2012 Yes, but my point is that many of these players are no longer at the club or shortly to be gone, so while they look bad on this year's accounts, chances are that they won't appear on next years. But they've been replaced or are still under contract. If as some have suggested by cheaper players, we will see in a year.
