As much as it pains me to write this, I now feel that the manager has to go. I choose the term 'the manager' deliberately as I am trying to remove myself from it being the legendary Dalglish. I understand that this post will come under serious attack but remember that it is merely my opinions and you are entitled to disagree.

I pretty much feel that defending Dalglish because he is Dalglish is the equivalent of choosing a trophy girlfriend. Great indeed for a quick fling or bragging rights but maybe not the kind of girl it's best to spend the rest of your life with. The fact is, results are dire, mentality is dire, decision making is dire and the constant talk of 'progress' is either the talk of lunacy or an attempt at morale building that clearly doesn't work.

I'm trying not to get into talk about Dalglish as a person though. In my view, we need to view the manager's position as a uniform and stop thinking with our balls and making it so personal. Besides, anyone who thinks King Kenny loses his legendary status if he has to step aside, clearly cant remember enough about the great man.

We can talk all we want about being in transition but, on evidence, I really hate what I see us in transition to. We can also talk about new players in the summer but I think that even two world class players in the summer would end up stifled by the negative mentality at the club. We are better on paper already than most of the teams who are shafting us. We should be able to be able to beat them but it seems as if it's something much deeper rooted than mere tactics (which are dubious also) that is defeating us.

Attack all you like, I understand. To me though, Dalglish will always be a legend but I'm trying to think about the long-term good of the club.

This post has actually cheered me up - I was wondering when it'd come.

If our manager was called anything other than Kenny Dalgish I'd probably be doing my nut now, but I'm actually pretty calm. Kenny will know better than us what to do, now or at the end of the season. I just wonder what on earth type of manager who could make us successful again? We've tried all the archetypes except the Big Sam type.

I don't necessarily mean today but remember it's virtually April lads. This isn't a knee jerk reaction at the start of the season.

And stop making it about Kenny mate. Start viewing it as a role that needs performed with excellence. As I said, maybe we need to stop thinking with our nuts.

He gets the rest of the season, what sense is there in getting rid of Kenny now FFS?

He should be given another summer of transfers, but what concerns me is the lack of change or progress away from what obviously isn't working. The Downing & Henderson system is so poor. Carroll not starting...

All very worrying

No need for a thread like this. There's plenty of other ones discussing it.

I have my opinions on what I think should happen but there's no point any of them being looked at til the summer.

Situation needs looking at in May. I doubt if the decision is that Kenny has to go, that he'll need to be sacked.

Aye. Basically an extension of the Kenny thread

We seem to have a mentality that's really bad and I'd be afraid that potentially decent players coming into that mentality would be negatively infected by it. Also, the track record of purchases so far is far from impressive. Whether that was the manager or DC may remain secret forever.

He'll fall on his sword. That's the kind of man he is. He knows better than anyone that this form is inexcusable and he knows ultimately that the buck stops with him.

From what I know and have read, Kenny is a brave, gutsy man. I think he'll know himself and will admit if he thinks that someone else can do a better job. Personally, I think he knows he's not the one right now but is selflessly motoring on until the end of the season in order not to make things worse.

The manager has to take a big part of the blame for some massively overrated, overpaid British signings who have not delivered.

The manager has to take a big part of the game for sticking with Carragher when there is a ball playing centreback in Coates who can comfortably bring the ball out of defence and be an extra man against a team that keep 9 men in their half when we have possession.

Win the FA Cup and we'll talk about the manager's position when the season is over.

Technically our league season was over a long time ago but we the fans need to back the team to FA Cup glory because I sure as hell don't want to wait another 6 years for another trophy.

I wouldn't be surprised if he came to the conclusion that the job might need someone else next season.

He can hold his head high whatever he decides, goes without saying.

If the club back him and he tries again next season I'll be delighted but if he decides it's not going to work for whatever reason then that's football. We need to have some dignity about it.

Cuts me up though, the idea of him not getting the chance to wing the league again while the likes of ferguson will be carrying on in his bath chair.

Just realised there was a Kenny thread so apologies. I should have posted there indeed.

Maybe the mods can dispose of this one please?

Thing is they trusted him enough to give him a 3 year deal. If things don't improve it could get messy in the summer. Last thing we want is the man humilated, as lets have it right, he's been brilliant since he arrived back, the recent form withstanding.

f***ing Internet warrior

Catch yourself on

Hmmmm....

1. Weren't we celebrating 'Internet Warriors' not too long ago?

2. I have explained my reasoning fully and with respect whereas you have charged in swearing and without debate.

3. Everyone at the club needs to catch themselves on. We've been having next season fantasies since 1991.

We were good from Jan to April last season.

We've been s*** most of this season.

He is (rightly or wrongly) living off his name at the moment

Are you foreign?

Can we give him the FA cup semis and possibly final to see if he can win two and not just 1 trophy this year. I mean if that's alright with you.

If Kenny goes, does anybody trust the hierarchy at the club to make the right decision in his replacement?

I don't think Kenny's status at the club is up for question. It does make you wonder if an exit strategy is needed though as, whilst he'll always be a legend to us, Sky et all will jump all over it.

Ian Ayre has already shown he has no idea by being part of the team that hired Hodgson

There's a question.

Ayre would have been okay to hire Hodgson wouldnt he?

We'd go continental again, though. Sure of it.
