Sad. Costs €1000 to buy a defibrillator and you need to train people up to use it. 2 people a week go down with some form of heart condition playing sport in Ireland every week. It's always been this way, I guess.

Correct me if i'm wrong . But they are simplified for easy use by a novice and wont charge if a heart beat is detected hence them being placed on planes and train stations

Couldn't tell ya TBH. Not sure the ones you see in public areas are the same as the ones they use at sports grounds but excellent that they are more and more commonly seen.

The one I got trained on was basically a stick on the pads job and it tells you what to do and automatically shocks if required - you just do cpr until it tells you to stand clear
