Used to think he was a bit of a t** and just living off the association with Jose but it was interesting listening to him on GOS this morning. I like his clear strategy and positive approach to how he wants his sides to play, which is easier said than done, but he's done it with a lot of unfashionable British players.

His next test is to keep the same level next season and prove it's not just a flash in the pan and he could attract the interest of some big clubs, maybe even abroad. Whether they'll be allowed to take the risk on him is another thing mind.

He's already sustained it for more than one season. Will be interesting when he does move on because he'll have to start all over again with a new group of players, Martinez and Sousa had already put some this style in place at Swansea and he has refined it to add possession to the passing game.

Football needs new blood rather than the same old names going round and round (yes you fat head!)

For that reason alone, I'm please that both he and the fella at Norwich are having good seasons - & conversely hope that QPR go down

I strongly agree with this. Rodgers is a proper manager not only because he looks like one but because he did his badges and worked his way up the levels to get the gig. British and Irish football needs more of that - a coaching structure that brings through progressive thoughtful managers. The Roeders, Bruces, Curbs and the likes need to f*** off to Spain and play golf or open a pub, their continued employment by clubs is holding back the development of the sport.

And players.

I hope he stays there next season and continues learning his trade. Often a manager accepts a position at a bigger club and they're sacked within a season.

Flummoxed how Bruce keeps finding work outside of a pub.

I think there are better examples than Steve Bruce

For a start he hasn't got a job

He nearly had the Wolves job & told everyone all about it - without wanting to talk about it obviously - cos that would be disrespectful

Good old Pat Murphy must have given him a Chinese burn & held him in a headlock

Rogers is pretty clear that most teams can play like Swansea but in an interview hinted that most managers don't have the bottle for it, because managerial jobs are too pressured. He also said before the premiership that Swansea would outplay lots of teams. Think he's got a lot about him. You' ve got to be really organised and into technical details to get the set of players he has to play like they have. Currently the british manager most likely to get a top 6 job should one become available.

I think he is being too modest there

most managers wouldn't know where to start trying to get their teams playing like Swansea and to the same level

wigan for example, try and play football but they are really poor

Yet Swansea wouldn't be where they are now without Roberto Martinez.

Maybe Wigan need a better manager now then to take them forward

And yet they gave it to Terry Connor. Maybe he's finally been rumbled
