Kuyt or Maxi for Hendo, Bellamy for Downing.

Downing did ok last night. Not stellar by any stretch but ok.

 

It must be hard to play in front of Enrique whose decision-making on the ball often leaves a lot to be desired. At least Enrique's defending last night was back to his early season standards.

Agreed, but...

 

Bellamy is the better player and has goals in him.

Pick the same team. It had good balance

Kuyt, Maxi or Bellamy can be used off the bench if necessary

 

Henderson wide is a mistake, I'd also change Downing for Bellamy.

I think its maybe being a bit harsh leaving big Andy out but I think he finds it tough against stoke and their defenders would rather play against him than the nippy players.

 

I take it nobody's going for Charlie Adam getting his place back ? :popcorn:

I think its maybe being a bit harsh leaving big Andy out but I think he finds it tough against stoke and their defenders would rather play against him than the nippy players.

He played his part yesterday and deserves to keep his place. He will also be useful defending against their set-pieces.

Stoke is exactly where we need Andy, imo. They will sit deep to nullify any pacy players, always do. Carroll will let us harass them and allow us to work on second balls, something which we clearly used against Everton and also pull a defender or two to let Suarez get some breathing room. I think Bellamy is a lot more useful playing in a central position and would not mind seeing him in a two with Suarez or coming on as a sub for Luis to play through the middle.

would say that Kenny should mention Stokes constant holding, tugging and pushing at set pieces during his press conference, however given our penalty record this season it is probably a complete waste of time!!

he has complained about refs twice this season, once got us 2 sent off vs Spurs
